Altrusa International of Richardson, Inc.

is a non-profit organization of members from all walks of life united in community service. It was organized in 1917 in Nashville, Tennessee and currently consists of 392 clubs in 19 countries. Altrusa International of Richardson, Inc. was organized on February 16, 1966 and presented with a charter on May 23, 1967. The club is governed by Club Officers and a Board of Directors. Currently, there are over seventy members and five emeritus members.

Kindness Comes in All Kinds of Packages! 🎉

Today, celebrated Bethany’s birthday with her friends at Ability House—and it was a fun “Cookie Monster” kind of party! 🍪🎂

There were gifts, laughter, friendship, delicious cake, and plenty of smiles. But most importantly, there was kindness. 💙

That’s what we love about Altrusa! Kindness can look like celebrating a friend’s birthday, delivering books, supporting a local organization, lending a helping hand, or simply showing up when someone needs a little encouragement.

There are so many ways to spread kindness—and Altrusans are always looking for another opportunity to make someone’s day a little brighter.

A brand-new backpack. Fresh notebooks. Sharpened pencils. The excitement of a new school year filled with possibilities. 📚✏️✂️

For many children, those simple necessities aren’t guaranteed.

Altrusa International of Richardson is proud to support Richardson ISD’s Backpack Bash with a monetary donation that will provide 50 backpacks filled with essential school supplies, helping students begin the school year prepared and confident.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to start the school year with the tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed. Education and literacy are at the heart of Altrusa’s mission, and we are honored to partner with Richardson ISD to invest in the future of our community.

Last night, we proudly celebrated the installation of our 2026–2027 leadership team for Altrusa International of Richardson .

Congratulations to our incoming President, Shari Lorenz Barat alongside all of our newly installed leaders as they step into a new year of service, leadership, and impact. We are excited for the vision, passion, and dedication this team will bring to our club and community.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to our outgoing leaders for their commitment and service throughout the past year. ✨📚 What an inspiring week for !

We were honored to host co-author for a special author visit and presentation across seven elementary schools in Richardson Independent School District. Students were engaged, encouraged, and empowered through the message of Her Own Two Feet — reminding young readers that determination, courage, and education can help them achieve their dreams. 🌟

Thanks to a grant funded by Altrusa International, Inc., every student received their very own signed and autographed copy of the book to take home and treasure. ❤️

Projects like this reflect the heart of Altrusa: promoting literacy, encouraging leadership, and making a lasting impact in our communities — one child, one book, and one journey at a time.
