Please be aware that the City of Richardson Police Department will be conducting an Explosive Breaching Training in the parking lot at Berkner High School today, Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

These exercises are part of ongoing efforts to maintain preparedness and strengthen emergency response capabilities.

At the June 4 Board meeting, RISD leadership shared an update showing exceptional student academic growth during the 2025-2026 school year. The Board also adopted the 2026-27 budget reflecting continued commitment to supporting RISD employees, protecting critical student services, and finding the operational efficiencies necessary to meet the long-term needs of the entire RISD community.

The Richardson ISD Board of Trustees welcomed its newest members during an official swearing-in ceremony at the June 4 meeting. Trustees recognized the re-election of Eric Eager to At-Large Place 6 and welcomed Nazlee Burney, who was elected to represent District 3.

Following the ceremony, the Board reorganized and elected officers to serve during the 2026–27 school year. The newly selected officers are:
🔹Chris Poteet, President
🔹 Rachel McGowan, Vice President
🔹 Vanessa Pacheco, Secretary
🔹 TASB Delegate - Eric Eager
🔹 TASB Delegate Alternate - Megan Timme

June 4 was the final regular meeting of the 2025-26 school year. The first meeting for the 2026-27 school year will be held on Thursday, August 6.

🔅 📆 In June & July, office hours for most RISD central departments and programs are Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Central buildings are not open to visitors on June 5, 12, 19, and July 10, 17, and 24.

Most RISD schools and many district administrative offices will be closed from June 22 through Friday, July 3.

Administrative offices will reopen on Monday, July 6.

Congratulations to Richardson ISD Superintendent Branum, who was awarded the prestigious Youth Empowerment Award by the Junior League of Richardson this past weekend.

Presented during their annual Beacon Awards Gala, this award recognizes an outstanding individual who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to uplifting, supporting, and creating equitable opportunities for young people across the region.

The league shared that her strategic vision perfectly aligns with its mission of promoting voluntarism, developing women's potential, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
