Last friday international students at Garland school enjoyed an AMAZING fashion show with the joyful cultural sharing experience. Mid-Autumn Festival is a big holiday in a lot of Asian countries. Students presented traditional Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese clothes. Thanks everyone that worked so hard to make it happen! 中秋节快乐! Happy mid-Autumn festival! Meet ILTexas HS Senior Kinnereth Din! Kinnereth makes history as the first ILTexas student to be admitted to Harvard University. She will also be the first person in her family to go to college. Din had already received an Ivy acceptance from Cornell University prior to her Harvard admission; however, on March 31, when thousands of Ivy hopefuls anxiously waited to see if they had gotten into their dream schools, she decided to open her Harvard letter last. Meet ILTexas HS Senior Joshua Lopez! Joshua makes history as the first ILTexas student to be offered the prestigious Jefferson Foundation Scholars full-ride scholarship to the University of Virginia. His only problem now? Having so many options to choose from. Lopez applied to 33 colleges and has received acceptances from all that have posted their admission status thus far. Before the winter was gone, our mentor program brought ILTexas to thier first hockey game!
At ILTexas, every international student is paired with an American student and they are mentors to each other. Not only do the international students experience American culture but the American students can learn about other cultures as well!

Meet graduate Li Siyu (Iris)!
Iris is one of our 2017 international graduates from China. As one of the top 6% of students in her class, Iris was automatically accepted to the University of Texas at Austin. She studied at Moody College of Communication (top 2 US communication schools) and minored in McCombs School of Business (top 4 US business schools). As a result of working with ASP college counselors at ILTexas, she completed her bachelor's degree in two years and gained over $140,000 in college tuition. Iris also participated in our Mentor Program, which pairs a local student with an international student, so that they can practice their language skills and learn from one another.
