Schell Elementary

Schell Elementary Schell Elementary is a K-5 grade school in Richardson Texas in the Plano ISD school district. Alexander Robertson Schell moved to Plano in 1921. Schimelpfenig.

He married Irene Schimelpfenig, the youngest child of Fred and L.E.R. In 1922, they were blessed with a son, A.R. Schell, III. Mr. Schell is remembered by family and friends as gregarious. He continuously met and greeted the people with whom he came in contact through his insurance company and his many civic clubs and associations. Schell contributed to the community and North Texas throughout his

life. He was Plano’s longest serving mayor of 16 years (1932-1948) and one of the founding/charter members of the North Texas Municipal Water District, the entity that supplies Plano and other area communities with fresh water, sewer and solid waste services. He served among the water district’s first presidents and was Plano’s sole representative on that board until his death in 1964. He is succeeded by his son, A.R. Schell, III, who has served on the water district board since 1964. In 1951, Mr. Schell was the first recipient of the Plano Citizen of the Year award. He was the founding charter member and one of the first presidents of the Plano Chamber of Commerce, Plano Rotary Club, Collin County Association of Realtors and Plano’s American Legion - Harding Blaine Post. He was a member of Plano’s Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite and founded in 1930 the A.R. Schell Insurance Agency, Inc., which is in its 77th year of operation. Schell is also the namesake of a public park. His legacy continues through his family, and his impact on the community lives on.

🔬🧪 Schell Elementary Science & Engineering Fair 2026-2027 – Student Sign-Up is Now Open! 🧪🔬

Calling all Schell Elementary scientists, engineers, and innovators! 🌟

We invite all interested students to participate in the 2026-2027 Schell Elementary Science & Engineering Fair.

This exciting event gives students the opportunity to explore a topic they are passionate about, apply scientific thinking or the engineering design process, and share their learning with others.

📅 Important Dates
• Sign-Up Begins: Meet the Teacher Day – Monday, August 10, 2026
• Project Turn-In: Tuesday–Thursday, January 5–7, 2027
• Judging Day: Monday, January 11, 2027
• Award Ceremony: Friday, January 15, 2027

Parents who register their child will receive an email from Campus Science & Engineering Fair Chair, Ms. Sha-Li Tsai, with important Science & Engineering Fair information, including the Science & Engineering Fair Student Handbook, project guidelines, deadlines, and other helpful resources.

👩‍🔬 Parent Volunteer Judges Needed! We also welcome parent volunteers to serve as judges. No science background is required—training and judging materials will be provided. Your support helps create a fun and meaningful experience for our students!

🌟 Big news from Schell Elementary!

Two of our 3rd grade students have been selected as National Math Stars, joining a 2026 cohort of just over 600 students from across the country.

Congratulations to:
⭐ Samarth A., 3rd grade
⭐ Aaditya N., 3rd grade

Each Star was chosen after a multi-stage evaluation of mathematical aptitude and eagerness to go deeper in STEM. Over the next ten years — through high school graduation — each student will receive mentorship, funding for advanced math courses, STEM enrichment materials, and invitations to math competitions and summer camps.

We couldn't be prouder. 🎉
