Free Double Reed Resources from Bocal Majority!

Did you know that Sally Bohls and Jennifer Auerbach have created a TON of videos and handouts that are free on the Bocal Majority website?!

And with that, the 2026 Bocal Majority summer season is officially a wrap!

Fittingly, we always end the summer by returning to the beginning with our final event: beginner camp. While it is always bittersweet to see the summer and all of our camp fun come to a close, I love taking a moment to appreciate our final act of the season: helping a new class of double-reed players take their very first flight on the oboe and bassoon.

Yesterday, during the final recital led by Alex Meaux and our teaching team of Gina Moore, Catherine Miller Wardle, and Katie Haun, our beginners got to show off everything they learned in just four days. During the event, a parent who is completely brand new to our program spoke up to share some incredibly kind words. He expressed how grateful he was for the wonderful experience his child had and thanked our entire team for everything we do for these students.

It is easy to get caught up in the daily grind of logistics - sending countless emails, tracking down missing instruments, or answering questions answered in emails.... But none of that matters compared to the pure excitement these students feel. They are experiencing the thrill of a new instrument and opening a brand-new chapter filled with artistry, skill, and musical connection. Even if no one ever said thank you, seeing their passion would be more than enough fuel to keep us going. Still, hearing about that positive impact means the world to us.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the summer 2026 Bocal Majority Camps - you ARE the heart of our organization! And here’s wishing everyone a great start to what’s next!

It's been quite a week for "I said yes!"
They bought new horns to end the stress.
A new 240 = success!
Howarth HL oboe does impress!

They blew their reeds and played their scales.
They picked the best ones without fail.
They signed the papers for the sale.
They took them home to tell the tale.

Braelyn, Elli and of course Lottie
said give us these instruments - it's time to party!
Now they're ready to get hearty
As they play their instruments - they're all such smarties!
