As a family, feelings should be spoken about openly and how they impact you. You can say, "I'm really tired at the moment so I'm finding it harder to be calm". Talk about how your body feels and what you can do to help you remain calm. Ask your child what they would do. When your child is getting frustrated link their body with the emotion, such as "your muscles look really tight, are your feeling frustrated"? You can talk about what you do when you are frustrated and practice together, breathing exercises are a great way to do this (look at previous blogs on fun relaxations).

What a beautiful day we were given today.

The sun is out, the birds are singing, and the children were playing.

While outside today, we could here both our 3k and 4k children were conversing with each other, problem solving, helping each other make choices, working in teams, and using caring manners for each other.

Hilltop Daycare & Preschool would like to thank Ms. Heather Abbot for teaching our 3k class and using here education in The Pyramid Model Practices as well as 2nd step social/emotional learning.

Dawn and I would like to thank the Rice Lake Area School District and Mrs. Jenn Titera our Social Emotional Coach who has worked extensively with us to help teach us how to incorporate The Pyramid Model in our teaching along with 2nd step.

Both our 3k and 4k children know how to use the solution cards, how to care for each other, and to accept each.

It was a great pleasure to watch and listen to our young children using the tools which we have taught and provided for them to make and keep strong friendships while playing.
