Our cat Min passed away yesterday. She was 18 years old. She loved being with students in their lessons. She loved going to parents to be cuddled. She would jump up on the bench and sit next to students when they played. She loved to be extra cuddly on the floor when we were working on music theory activities. She will be missed.

Senior Feature! Jillian Lentz has taken piano lessons for 9 years. She has been a monthly pianist at her church playing the full worship services for 5 years and over the years participated in many recitals, PianoFest and WMTA district auditions. This summer, she has an internship at Ag Risk Management and will be continuing to work as a gymnastics coach and raise beef cattle and flowers.

Eva Boehme will graduate from Rice Lake High School this spring. She is planning on attending Brigham Young University-Idaho in the fall and will major in Exercise Science to go on to get a doctorate in Physical Therapy. With piano, Eva participated in WSMA solo/ensemble, earning Excellent scores each year. She also uses her piano skills at her church, helping with the kids' class, playing for baptisms. She also helps people learn their voice parts in choir and enjoys sitting down and playing for fun. Congratulations Eva!

Side note: students earn points for their pieces and theory tests. Over time they accumulate. Lots of students will have accumulated enough this year for a plaque or 50/75 point bars!

Congratulations to the 11 students who participated in the Chippewa Valley WMTA chapter District Auditions yesterday! All students worked incredibly hard and had significantly harder pieces than last year. On top of that, there was a huge increase in scores of "5" all-around (and 4/4 for not-memorized events) and theory scores for the studio were at an all-time high! 81% scored an 80% or higher (which, according to WMTA, is an exceptionally high percentage). Great work, students!!!!! YOU put in the work and are reaping the rewards! There are a couple students participating in the festival in two weeks at UW-River Falls and can't wait to hear about their experiences too!
