From barrel racing to liberty.
From performance to therapist.
From being asked to do… to simply being allowed to be.

Just like we have the power to choose differently, so do horses.

I’ve seen it time and time again in the rescue world.

The horse chooses life.
Chooses to fight.
Chooses the second chance.
Chooses to trust again.
Chooses love.

And sometimes, when we give a horse the freedom to become something different than what they were before, they turn around and offer that same freedom to us.

They remind us that our past does not have to define our purpose.

That there can be life after survival.
Purpose after pain.
Connection after fear.
And an entirely new chapter after we thought the story had already been written.

From performance to therapist.

Maybe that’s one of the most beautiful things about horses: when given the choice, they can choose a new life, too. 🐴🌿

Rev is officially a therapy horse now for Liberty Equine Counseling and we couldn’t be more proud of him.

Got the majority of the horses moved over to the neighbors temporarily while we continue fence work! They are excited to be exploring and our pasture sure is happy for a rest.

Fence update: we’re rocking it!

So excited for the larger pastures for both herds!

Thanks to the donations and the help, we will be able to continue our rescue missions soon, and more room means happier horses, too.

Our mission is two fold: help horses and heal humans. It takes a village, and thanks to folks like Matt and Kristy, and the generous t post donors, a much needed improvement is happening. 💜🙏🏼

Little bit of rain means it got cool enough earlier to start the fence posts!

As I just had surgery I get the most important job - supervision! 😅

A little different kind of pasture walk today. 🐴🌿

I just had my gallbladder removed, and one of the things they tell you after surgery is to walk, walk, walk. So naturally, I decided a slow walk through the pasture sounded a whole lot better than pacing around the house.

Sassy and Willow apparently agreed. 🤍

They stayed close and became my walking buddies, and it was one of those quiet moments that reminded me just how special horse rescue really is.

We show up for them when they need someone. We give them safety, care, patience, and another chance. We walk beside them while they heal.

And somehow, in so many different ways, they come back for us too.

Today, it was simply two horses choosing to walk beside me while I heal.

We come back for them. They come back for us. 🐴🌻

That’s the heart of Wild Willow Redemption.

Love the sunsets around here.

It has definitely been hot, but we are pushing forward where we can.

We have made updates to our website.

We have picked up the remaining t-posts we needed and greatly appreciate the donations!

We got an update from our fence guy and as we’re on a burn ban, we will not be having any welding happening right now but will hopefully be working on driving the posts soon during the night when it’s cooler.

We have also raked rocks up and out of the 3 acre section. We’re slowly but surely getting rid of all the rocks 🪨 that seem to grow in one of our pastures.
