It’s our favorite week of the year… Fair Week! 🎡🐴

Southlands has a long history at the Dutchess County Fair Horse Show, with our riders and horses attending for more than 70 years. It was one of Deborah Dows’ favorite shows, and she began showing there in the 1950s.

We’re so proud of our crew representing Southlands this year: Emma Gilpin, Joss Sher, Kira Freilich, Lincoln Russell, Stella Harrison and Violet Harrison. And a special shoutout to Averie Feroe, making us proud up on 4-H Hill with her beautiful cows!

Community Day is back! 🍂🐴

Join us at Southlands on Saturday, September 26 from 11 AM–3 PM for a fun filled day on the farm with pony rides, farm animals, live music, face painting, kids crafts, food trucks and more!

The best week with our Jumpstart campers.

From reading games and hands on learning to creative projects, pony time and plenty of farm fun, these kids packed so much into one special week. We loved watching their confidence grow as they got ready to head back to school!

We’re thrilled to welcome Christophe Theallet to Southlands for a two day dressage clinic on September 1 & 2!

With more than 30 years of experience teaching, riding and coaching, Christophe is a graduate of France’s renowned Cadre Noir de Saumur, has competed internationally for France and has trained with some of the sport’s most respected masters. He also played an instrumental role in the development of 2016 U.S. Olympic team rider Kasey Perry.

Christophe will be teaching riders from Training Level through Grand Prix. Limited riding spaces are available, with stabling available as well. Auditors are welcome at no charge, with donations to The Southlands Foundation appreciated.

We’re hiring! 🐴

Southlands is looking for a dependable, hardworking Part-Time Barn Staff member to join our team.

This position is 24 hours per week, with eight-hour days on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Responsibilities include feeding horses, cleaning stalls, managing turnout, general barn chores and property work.

Horse experience is preferred and applicants should be comfortable with the physical demands of barn work.

Following a wonderful Annual Meeting, we’re pleased to welcome Ben Galison, Gabrielle Migliore, and Frank Watkins to the Southlands Foundation Board of Directors. We’re so grateful for their willingness to serve and look forward to the experience and perspective each will bring to Southlands.

We’re also incredibly thankful to Cathleen Tobin, Michael Lancto, Kathy Zitz, Jacob Leach, Liz Golden Hilton, and Suzanne Battenfeld for their continued service on the Board and their ongoing commitment to Southlands.

Shop for a cause! 🛍️🐴

This Friday, August 14th, J.McLaughlin in Rhinebeck is hosting a special afternoon of shopping in support of Southlands Foundation!

From 1–5 PM, 10% of sales will be donated to Southlands, so it’s the perfect excuse to do a little shopping while supporting the horses, riders, programs, and community that make Southlands so special.

The Southlands crew had a great day at the Welwyn HVHJA show! ☀️ It was a scorcher, but everyone had so much fun and we’re so proud of our riders and ponies!

And when we got home, we got to see Joss straight from the airport after Pony Finals and already helping unload the trailer! 😂 No breaks for these kiddos!
