The classroom sets the tone for beauty and creativity for the young child. Children engage in songs, stories, puppet shows, rhythmic games, dramatic play, outdoor play and nature walks. These activities cultivate language, memory, imagination, small motor skills, coordination, concentration

and a lay a solid foundation for math and problem solving. GRADES
Our grades curriculum meets the children at every stage of development through academics, art , music and close connection to nature. Materials are presented in a way that appeals to the child's sense of wonder and inner imagination laying a strong foundation for higher learning. Special subjects include Spanish language, wood shop, handwork, music, movement, gardening and agricultural arts. All students spend ample time outdoors and are involved in animal care on our farm. Primrose Hill School meets children as unique individuals, providing them with a safe, nurturing environment that feeds the senses and inspires the imagination. We offer a social experience that engenders compassion and responsibility. We are inspired by the curricular indications of Waldorf education, with an emphasis on engagement with the natural world. We encourage curiosity, creative thinking, and confidence to support a lifelong love of learning. - Cleaning supplies & appliances
- Bookshelves
- Kitchenware & appliances
- Some outdoor equipment
- Office supplies & printers
- Basketball hoop
- Miscellaneous items

Bring your own tools and transportation needed to take items away tomorrow.

Tell us if you are picking up for a school or nonprofit.

(No building fixtures or secured assets are open for sale or donation at this time.)

Primrose Hill School will be hosting an Estate Sale on Saturday September 2nd from 9:00AM to 1:00PM on our campus at 23 Spring Brook Park in Rhinebeck, NY.

*Cash and check will be accepted. Items must be taken with you on the day of sale. If you plan on purchasing larger items, we suggest attending with help to assist you in loading items into your vehicle. At this time, we will not be holding any items ahead of the estate sale.*

Examples of items for sale are: farm equipment, Community Playthings items (outlast blocks, hollow blocks, cascade water table, toys), painting supplies, handwork supplies, school supplies, nursery and kindergarten toys, books, blocks, games, desks, tables, blackboards, rugs, chairs, linens, and kitchen supplies (bowls, cups, utensils, water pitchers.)

Our three buildings will be open for you to walk through, and a faculty member will be in each building to help with sales and questions.

To those who have been touched by Primrose Hill, we are heartbroken to announce that our dear school will not operate its intended programming for the 2023-24 school year and will cease operations in the coming weeks.

Our Summer Camps will continue to breathe life onto our campus, and bring joy to the children until August 11th.

Primrose Hill School has been a home full of love, laughter, magic, community, festivals, and a pathway for alternative learning inspired by Waldorf education for a decade. We will hold close to us the memories and connections that were brought to us by our little school in the middle of Rhinebeck. We are grateful for all of the faculty, families, and community members that made Primrose Hill School “that magical place.”

Beeswax crayons 🐝❤️ We provide students with beautiful and natural learning tools. Natural beeswax crayons are free from chemical additives, and the shape helps children develop fine motor skills through craft and hands-on learning.

During closing week our teachers participated in movement activities, reflections, as well as artistry. These beautiful drawings were smudged by hand, with pencil shavings and inspired by a bright flower bouquet and naturally died silks!
