Congratulations! 🎉 Last week we celebrated our amazing English Learner (EL) students who passed the Ohio English Proficiency Assessment (OELPA) demonstrating their English proficiency with donuts and special recognition. 🍩🥇

This year a whopping 26% of WRES EL students passed the OELPA — surpassing local & state averages — and overall our EL students all made significant growth. We are so proud of their hard work! 👏 They deserve all the donuts! 😋

Thank you, United Way of Central Ohio and KPMG! What a difference this will make the lives of our school community and those to come! 👏 We can’t wait for all the pieces of our library to come together!

📖Our Road Elementary School Wolves are voracious readers, and soon they’ll have a library of their very own! Thanks to the United Way of Central Ohio and KPMG, who donated 1,100 books. 🌍🎨While Waggoner Road Elementary School students got excited for their Earth Day celebration, Joe Begeny Mayor of Reynoldsburg popped by to surprise 3rd grader Jeremy with his Community Clean Up Design on his very own t-shirt! Thanks to all the schools who submitted designs for this annual event and congratulations, Jeremy, we are of you! 👕

Wow, our 3rd Annual Earth Day Celebration was out of this world! 🌎

Between exploring our creeks critters, learning about types of animals and amphibians, their life cycles, how to recycle + compost, getting a closer look with microscopes, picking out a plant to take home, and more — we had an AMAZING day! 🎉 🌿🪴🐛🐸🔬🐾

Shoutout to our WRES Nature Club for planning today’s event. Plus, a huge, “THANK YOU”, to everyone who partnered with us to make today a huge, memorable success. We couldn’t have done it without you! 🤝

Huge congrats to Waggoner Road Elementary’s very own Kristina Calkins! She was awarded a $5,000 Fund for Teachers grant to head to Costa Rica this summer! 🍎✈️

She’ll be studying biodiversity and conservation alongside experts to bring world-class environmental lessons back to our K-5 students. 🌿🐒

We are so of her commitment to bringing the world into her classroom! 🐺🌎

On Saturday, April 18th, the WRES Nature Club had their first Tree Planting Event! 🌳 Many volunteers came to help plant 275 trees thanks to a generous donation from Green Columbus in collaboration with MAD Scientist Associates, LLC who faciliated the tree planting. 🍃🪏

So many families, Student Council, and National Honor Society members showed up that we also were able to clear the trail and a wooded opening from debris! ✨

Thank you to MAD Scientist Associates for leading the planting and all the volunteers that made this an extremely succesful event for WRES! 👏

🌳 WRES Tree Planting Event!🌳

Please join the Nature Club for a WRES Tree Planting in partnership with MAD Scientist Associates, LLC on Saturday, April 18th from 10am-1pm.

We will be planting 275 tree seedlings of 7 different species on our property — and we need YOU! 🫵
