Mountains & Strings Chamber Music Retreat at Harriman State Park of Idaho is a unique combination of chamber music and outdoor recreation. String students from all over the country bring their violins, violas, cellos, and basses to have the experience of an intense chamber music camp combined with a life changing outdoor adventure. ange, Harriman State Park of Idaho is the perfect setting for young string players to experience chamber music, friendship, and the beauty of nature. Students at the retreat are each assigned to a small chamber ensemble (string quartet or trio) where they receive coaching from professional performers and teachers. In addition to string quartets and other small ensembles, all students participate in a chamber orchestra. Students also have the opportunity to attend violin, viola, and cello master classes and participate in fiddling, viola, and cello choirs. Performances include the student quartet concert and the Mountains & Strings Chamber Orchestra concert in Harriman State Park. Outdoor activities during the week include daytime and evening hikes in Harriman State Park, outdoor barbecues, games, and initiative classes.

"Mountains and Strings is the best ever! I have been to so many violin camps and this is my favorite by far. Everyone gets along so well and everyone is included. You can be friends with everybody, even the teachers (trust me at some strings camps its very hard) but i just love that place. Its so cool to get out into nature and play violin at the same time. This will be my fourth year going and I am so excited! I wish I would have found out about it sooner. We get to be in quartets and orchestra and fiddle and eat really good food! There are so many memories I have made there and I will never forget it. I tell so many people that this is the camp to go to. It is awesome and I love it. If you want to go to a strings camp go to Mountains and Strings. It's worth it."

"I can honestly say that Mountains and Strings is the best retreat I have ever been to. None of the other camps I've been to have ever completely captured the balance between social and learning experience. My musical talent has improved since attending and also I've become more motivated to practice my instrument. I've made friends that I've kept in touch with since the first time I attended. CALLING ALL PAST M&S PARTICIPANTS! We are preparing for our 25th anniversary year and we want you to JOIN US THIS SUMMER in celebrating 25 years of the most epic music camp experience ever at Harriman State Park of Idaho! We are inviting you to join us by attending any or all of the free public concerts at Harriman (see the concert schedule on our website, link below) as well as perform with us if you'd like! Dust off your instrument and join us for a Hoedown on Folk, Fun, Fiddle night on Friday, July 17, or a classic Mountains & Strings orchestra number on Saturday, July 18! You are also invited to a reception after the Friday evening concert where you can enjoy refreshments while mingling with the M&S leaders, coaches, and other past participants!
