BYU-Idaho Symphony Band

BYU-Idaho Symphony Band This distinctive group of instrumentalists present premiers of original works for band, orchestral transcriptions, solo concertos and popular music.

The BYU-Idaho Symphony Band is a select group of 47 woodwind, brass and percussion students who perform significant wind literature from a variety of musical periods and styles. The Symphony Band draws on compositions from such composers as Bach, Mozart, Berlioz, Sousa, and Copland. The repertoire also includes selections of standard band literature by prominent twentieth century composers. Member

s are selected each semester after careful audition to determine not only technical skill, but the ability to communicate feeling through their performance. These dedicated musicians bring years of previous experience to the ensemble and represent what is best in the students at BYU-Idaho. The ensemble travels on both domestic and international concert tours, performing for public schools, universities, communities, and invitational conferences sponsored by state, national and professional organizations.

BYU-Idaho Symphony Band Concert Tonight.

The BYU–Idaho Symphony Band will perform tonight at 7:30 p.m.

You can watch the concert live online at the link below. The stream will be on Channel / Screen 1 beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will feature Malcolm Arnold’s Four Scottish Dances; our fabulous French horn professor, John Klein, performing the Phoenix Concerto by Gregory Fritze; and Frank Ticheli’s Angels in the Architecture, featuring soprano Rebecca Pyper-Busselberg, along with additional selections.

Can someone in Delaware please watch this and confirm that they did? Our BYU-Idaho Symphony Band needs one last state to be heard in all 50 plus another 10 countries within 24 hours.

The BYU-Idaho Symphony Band has recently premiered a new instrumental (concert band) adaptation of Richard Elliott’s beloved choral arrangement/organ improvisation of “Let Us All Press On.”

The Symphony Band is on tour right now (near Seattle, WA) and this new version has been received by audiences of many faiths with great excitement as an inspiring “Anthem of Courage and Discipleship.”

Our Symphony Band Concert will be online at 7:30 tonight. We will be performing music from our upcoming tour that hasn’t already been performed in a concert this semester.
