Are you the country type, or is the country club more your style?

Thursday was country vs. country club dress-up theme day for Spirit Week 2026. Country seemed to win, although many students preferred the country club vibe.

It has been a great week of celebrating our Golden Knights. Students and staff really went all out to make Spirit Week 2026 a memorable one!

Introducing our Golden Knight Junior Varsity Athlete of the Week, Mary Harwood.

"Mary has been working hard on the court as a right side. In addition to her positive attitude, Mary has been a consistent server for our team. She also has had several quick reactions during our recent matches that helped keep the ball in play allowing us to set an offense, getting the point! Mary has been very helpful to her teammates (& coaches) on the court helping her team stay in the correct rotation." Coach Lonni Carroll

Varsity Girls Basketball Torch Passes to Coach Brian Pangrazio.

A new era begins this season for the Sectional Champions, York Varsity Girls Basketball program, with the appointment of a new coach.

The torch is now passed to Brian Pangrazio, who will take over as the Varsity Head Coach of the Lady Knights, succeeding Coach Kaitlin Kolb, who coached the Girls Varsity Basketball team for 15 years and won two Sectional Championships.

“We are excited about a new chapter in York Girls Basketball history. Brian Pangrazio has been an important contributor to this community for many years as a parent and coach to various York teams throughout his coaching career. He is now going to step up and bring his knowledge of basketball and passion for the sport to lead our Lady Knights in this next chapter. We wish him and our ladies all the best in their upcoming season,” said Athletic Director Kurt Schneider.

Coach Pangrazio bleeds purple and gold through and through. His passion for coaching has been evident as an assistant varsity baseball coach and a modified football and basketball coach.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank Athletic Director Kurt Schneider and High School Principal Charlie Passarell for giving me this opportunity. There is no question that I have big shoes to fill as Coach Kolb has built this program into a perennial powerhouse. It is a privilege and honor to be selected to take over the Girls Varsity Basketball team. I am excited and eager to get the season underway,” Coach Pangrazio commented.

We are excited for the 2026-2027 girls basketball season under Coach Pangrazio. Go Lady Knights!

Today was Character Day, day 3 of Spirit Week.

The students enjoyed the opportunity to dress up as their favorite character. We had a wide variety for sure!

Tomorrow is Country vs. Country Club Day...which country are you?

The Genesee Valley Conservancy asked us to share this important celebration of the Little Italy Preserve, scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2026 (Columbus Day).
Little Italy is an important piece of York history that we know is near and dear to many residents.

SCHEDULE:
10 am:
Gather at the Spring Street trailhead, 2670 Spring Street, for coffee and doughnuts. Parking at the end of the street or along the road. ADA parking zone in front of the Little Italy sign.

11 am:
Dignitary Comments, Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Official Photograph.

11:45 am: Hike through history along the historic Little Italy trail to the Longhouse at the western door and Rose’s Bar and Grill in Greigsville (1 mile, mostly flat/moderate with option to return to Spring Street before creek crossing.)

12:30 pm: Snacks and celebration at Rose’s Grill. Parking/Shuttle available.

It is so incredible to see how first graders are quickly recalling their math skills and building on their foundations.

In their rotating centers, Mrs. Rudgers' first graders worked on a program called IXL to practice and strengthen their math skills. Students reviewed a variety of previously learned concepts while Mrs. Rudgers worked individually with students to check their progress with foundational reading skills.

Ms. George’s students have been working hard to practice their skills using IXL, which turns learning into a fun game. Students raced to the finish for obtain their IXL codes and move their cars forward. Using software like IXL for practicing their math skills also provides reinforcement of their keyboarding skills.

Mrs. Rudgers and Ms. George's students are off to a great start in first grade.

Ms. Miller’s Drawing 1 students are working on a project that requires them to draw what they see.

For this project, they placed an object in their hand and placed a viewfinder over it. They made points on the window, similar to using plot points in graphing. Using the viewfinder, students then drew what they observed. They made two drawings, one of just their hand and one holding the object.

Ms. Miller said this lesson helps students improve their drawing skills.
