Hello York CSD Families - have you completed and returned your Transportation Request Form for your child(ren) for the 2026-2027 school year?

You received a ParentSquare email a few weeks ago and this is just a reminder that requests for student transportation are due to the Transportation Department by August 14, 2026.

You must complete this form for EACH child in your household (one form per child).

Click on the Transportation Request Form and complete the information.

A special guest visited York Central School to run a basketball camp on Monday, August 10th.

Former Syracuse legend, John Wallace, visited YCS to help improve the skills of our youth basketball players. Mr. Wallace also gave the student-athletes a character education speech focusing on the importance of work ethic and setting goals.

John Wallace was a 1992 NYS Champion at Greece Athena, 1992 New York State Mr. Basketball, participated in the McDonald's All American Game and attended Syracuse University. While at Syracuse, John led his team to the National Championship game and was drafted in the first round of the NBA draft by the New York Knicks.

Thank you to John and his fellow coaches for helping our youth Golden Knights.

That's a wrap on the YMCS Summer Recreation program!

The kids had a great time at the penny carnival. What child doesn't love fun games and prizes? Thank you to the YMCA Rec Supervisors and Counselors for creating the activites.

The kids also took part in a bike rodeo and wheeled safety activity, sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension's Traffic Safety Program. Thank you to CCE for their willingness to reschedule the bike rodeo after being rained out a few weeks prior.

It was a tremendous summer of fun activities for our students.

Foodlink distribution is coming to YCS Community Food Pantry!

On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the York CSD Community Food Pantry, Knights Bites, will open to distribute food to our school families and community members from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The 2026-2027 school year is approaching the York Elementary PTO is gearing up for another great year of fun activities for our students and families.

Please join the York Elementary PTO at their meeting on August 17, 2026, to learn how you can be part of this fantastic organization that supports our school in a huge way.

The meeting will take place in the Elementary School Library and starts at 5 p.m.

York Central School's Athletic Department is extremely proud to congratulate Senior Yeriel Diaz-Pena, recipient of the NFL Latino Youth Honors nomination by the Buffalo Bills.

"When I think of Yeriel and all of his wonderful attributes, for me, his positivity and determination make him the standout person he has become. On and off the field he battles and fights for what he believes in and I am excited to see what his senior season brings starting this fall." York/Pavilion Varsity Head Coach/Athletic Director, Kurt Schneider.

The Latino Youth Honor recognizes outstanding high school tackle and flag football athletes from around the country for their academic and athletic excellence.

Yeriel will be recognized alongside another Buffalo Bills Latino Youth Honors Award nominee, Bella Pastrana, at the Chargers vs. Bills game on September 27, 2026.

"I am very grateful for this moment, and it motivates me to keep working hard and improving," commented Yeriel.

The Golden Knights family of staff, students, the Board of Education, and community members, are incredibly proud of you Yeriel. Go Knights! 💜💛

Please join us for our next S.H.I.E.L.D. Family Engagement Night on Tuesday, August 18, from 5 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

York Central School families with children ages birth to age 4 are invited to an evening of fun games and activities at the playground and tennis courts, hot dogs, a bike rodeo, and a car seat inspection by Cornell Cooperative Extension.
