Comments

Our 2016 Digital Principal of the Year Winston Sakurai from Hawaii has a long history with NASSP and its two student organizations โ€“ National Student Council and NHS & NJHS โ€“ starting as early as 1990 when he traveled with a group of to the National Association of Student Councils' Annual Conference in Oregon. He was the Hawaii State Student Council president! Just look at the 1990s hairstyles in these pics.

But here's what makes this extra fun: ๐Ÿ‘€ check out the sponsor in the back right of this first photograph. That's NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe's father, Walter, who served as district student council sponsor!

NASSP President Kip Motta cares about , so he is taking every opportunity to meet students around the country involved in National Student Council and National Honor Society. This week he took time with students at Highlands Ranch High School in Highlands Ranch, CO, and Smoky Hill High School in Aurora, CO. He was joined by NASSP member Chuck Puga and NASSP President Ronn Nozoe.

What are students saying? Themes included challenges following the pandemic and the need for engaging, hands-on instruction.

Thank you to the Colorado students who met with our leadership and who give us hope for a bright future.

Today for National Student Leadership Week we are highlighting National Student Council award winners.

NatStuCo council highlight: 17-year National Council of Excellence perfect record Fox High School, MO.
"Our students work hard day in and day out to make our school and community a better place," sponsor David Pleimann said. "The work they do is valuable and helps students to have a better learning environment. We also give many opportunities for our students to help our community through events such as our blood drives and Veteran's Day celebration."

Today is National Student Council Day for National Student Leadership Week. We are celebrating our National Council of Excellence winners. These councils are being recognized for strong leadership programs. Be sure to check out the link to see our outstanding 10-year winners.

The Youth Passion Project was first created to make use of the free time in peopleโ€™s schedules during COVID-19. We believe that students should always have the opportunity to explore new topics of interest that they cannot learn in most school settings.

We offer free, online courses taught by high schoolers to encourage younger students to expand and supplement their learning. Our large variety of classes range from Songwriting to the Art of Baking and Introduction to Coding in Java.

After the school's homecoming game vs. Hurley High, Galena R-II School District High School (MO) members decided to capitalize on the rivalry to raise donations of canned goods ๐Ÿฅซ for the North Stone County Food Bank in Crane, which serves the area encompassing both schools. Galena students aim to "Can the Tigers ๐Ÿฏ," while Hurley High will "Can the Bears ๐Ÿป."
