Night Without a Bed is a national social media challenge and fundraising effort hosted by Family Promise, a leading nonprofit supporting families experiencing homelessness. Kiddie Academy of South Reno held their second annual silent art auction this year to support the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides invaluable assistance to families with children battling cancer.

Talented young artists at the Academy created art pieces that were featured at the auction. Over the past two years, Academy staff and families collectively raised $2,200. Not only did the event raise money for a worthy cause, but it also helped build a sense of community among our families.

“Reno is a small community, but it is a tight knit one. The families, teachers, and staff are all committed to helping others, and they are always looking for ways to give back to the community,” shared Franchisee Andrew Sizemore. “Our silent auction was just one example of their generosity and compassion.”

We had a wonderful end-of-summer picnic at Frying Pan Park, hosted by Kiddie Academy of Reston! Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the families and staff who helped make this event so special and enjoyable. The children had a blast with face painting, bouncing in the moonbounce, playing games and participating in activities. They also enjoyed music and interacting with each other while families got to know each other better. It was truly a great opportunity for everyone to connect and have fun together.

The Dragonfruits had a great time swimming at Gold Fish Swim School. The school provides a safe and welcoming atmosphere for children to conquer their fears, learn how to swim, and have a lot of fun in the process.

Thank you to Rachael Vanover for hosting a Paint party at Kiddie Academy of Reston! Kids' painting events foster a positive environment for exploring and expressing creativity. The focus isn't on being perfect or creating a masterpiece; instead, the focus is on having fun and expressing yourself.

In-House Show: MAD SCIENCE! Children became aware that science is not just fancy demonstrations utilizing complicated equipment. Science is everywhere! Our students have enjoyed the hands-on and challenging experiences that foster creative and higher-level thinking and problem-solving.

The Mandarins class had such a blast putting together a yummy lemonade and bake sale! The kiddos learned so much about planning, budgeting, marketing, cooking, and serving up smiles to their happy customers. The event was a big success and everyone enjoyed every delicious bite!everyone savored the delicious treats.

We had an amazing time at Camp Highroad with Kiddie Academy. The camp offers a variety of activities suitable for all ages, including outdoor team-building experiences. From physical activities to problem-solving challenges, there is something for everyone at Camp Highroad.

“When we concentrate on building skills to benefit children for life, especially at a young age, we aren’t solely focused on teaching domains of education that increase subject knowledge, but instead on building a developmental base that will form the foundation for future education,” said Ocie Watson-Thompson, Ed.D, at Towson University and Kiddie Academy curriculum advisory board member.

What are some ways that you instill confidence in your child?

This year, Kiddie Academy of Arlington Heights and Kiddie Academy of Mount Prospect partnered up for an impactful volunteer event with Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit organization that provides food and resources to children in need around the world. Together, Academy staff and enrolled families helped back over 27,000 meals!

“It’s an amazing experience,” shared Franchisee Preeti Gulati. “The nonprofit is so well-organized, and the staff and students are always so excited to volunteer. It’s a great way to teach our children the importance of giving back and bring Character Essentials® lessons to life.”💙
