Summer Days Filled with Joy and Discovery ☀️🐠

Our days have been filled with Splash Days, body painting, car painting, lemonade making, and lots of outdoor fun. It has been wonderful watching our children learn, create, and make memories together through play.

It is with mixed emotions that I announce that Ms. Heather will be retiring from Reston Children’s Center on Friday, July 31. Over her 35 years of service to our school, Ms. Heather has built strong relationships with students, families and staff and contributed significantly to our school’s climate and success. Her presence, familiarity, and experience in our Preschool has ensured a consistency of the values we impart on our young learners. On a personal note, Ms. Heather was my teacher when I attended Preschool, and the impact that she has had on me is immeasurable.

We will be having a Retirement party for Ms. Heather on Tuesday, July 28 from 8 to 10 in the staff break room. Refreshments will be available and we welcome both current and former staff and families to stop by and extend their well wishes to Ms. Heather!

RCC celebrated with cookouts, parades 🥁, dance parties, and all the ❤️🤍💙 red, white, and blue we could find! Wishing everyone a fun and safe Fourth of July!

☀️🦕 Summer is finally here, and our little friends are having a blast! From becoming junior paleontologists by making dinosaur fossils and uncovering hidden dinosaurs with fizzy vinegar reactions, to creating glowing firefly jars and strengthening their fine motor skills by using tweezers, every day is filled with hands-on learning and discovery. Add in building and exploring at our sandbox construction site, and it’s been a summer full of curiosity, creativity, laughter, and adventure!

From visiting the post office to meeting a firefighter, nurse, pharmacist, and farmer, our little learners have had so much fun exploring different careers and learning about the people who help our community every day!

🎵✨ A Wonderful Year Concludes with Music and Art 🎨🌟

Preschool celebrated the end of another fantastic school year this morning with their annual parade! Each classroom had a spectacular costume representing their group name, and our graduates were given a special send off to kindergarten in the fall. Hooray for RCC preschool!

S’more fun, please! Yesterday our classrooms transformed into a campsite where our little adventurers hiked, explored, and enjoyed a day full of camping fun. 🏕️🔥

As we learn about community helpers this week we had a special visitor to teach us all about veterinary care! Bailey the dog and Dr. Liz visited us for the 9th year in a row to talk to us about how to care for animals while giving us the chance to listen to Bailey's heart and give her hugs. We are so appreciative of this opportunity every year!
