Preschool celebrated the end of another fantastic school year this morning with their annual parade! Each classroom had a spectacular costume representing their group name, and our graduates were given a special send off to kindergarten in the fall. Hooray for RCC preschool!

As we learn about community helpers this week we had a special visitor to teach us all about veterinary care! Bailey the dog and Dr. Liz visited us for the 9th year in a row to talk to us about how to care for animals while giving us the chance to listen to Bailey's heart and give her hugs. We are so appreciative of this opportunity every year!

We brought nature inside the classroom as we explored an abandoned wasp nest! Children discovered the unique inside and outside textures and shapes of the nest with magnifing glasses while learning various cool facts!

This year, our classroom has been nurturing and learning about our little yellow canary, sparking curiosity and care for living creatures. To extend this learning experience, we took a small field trip to PetSmart Reston, where the children explored a variety of pet supplies and selected toys for our canary.
Afterward, we continued our adventure at the playground, where the children used binoculars to observe birds in the trees and explored the ground in search of worms—encouraging hands-on discovery and a deeper understanding of nature. Along the way, we also observed different animals, including cats and birds, which added to the children’s excitement and engagement.
Experiences like these help foster curiosity, responsibility, and a love for the natural world while supporting observational and social skills. What a wonderful day of learning and exploration!

Great Scott! You're Changing the Future!

The first stop in our time traveling week was the 1800s on the western frontier. We celebrated by hittin' the trails with a DIY trail mix bar and then we panned for gems to be used later in the week.

Don't forget to bring your cards, notes, pictures, etc. celebrating and appreciating your teachers and leave them in the box behind the DeLorean in the lobby to be delivered when we get back to the Future...

Thursday: Now we’re cookin’ with gas! Let’s lay a patch and head back to the 1950s.

Earth Day and gardening season all in one—it’s the perfect time to let our little ones dig their hands into the soil, explore nature, and gently plant delicate flowers. What a beautiful garden we’ll get to enjoy all summer long! 🌱🌸

Think, problem solve, and create! Children develop creativity, social skills, and fine motor skills through open-ended art projects where they can make choices, use their imaginations, and create with their hands. On Artsy Thursday, celebrate the joy and learning children experience when expressing themselves through art.👩‍🎨🧑‍🎨

Today at RCC we opened our art gallery featuring artwork from all classes across the three programs. Children were proud to show off their work to families and friends at pick up!🖌️🎨

When children build together they explore math and science concepts and develop their social and early literacy skills. Children can use any building material—from a fort of branches on the playground to a block city in the classroom, or a hideaway made from couch pillows at home.
Children across all three programs joined together this morning to play, explore, build, and create together!
