Our third graders have officially embarked on their journey through the Southwest in Social Studies Class! ๐ŸŒตโœจ

Working in pairs, students researched one of nine tour sites and became experts on their assigned location. Each team then brought their learning to life by creating detailed dioramas featuring three-dimensional representations of the site, along with important historical figures connected to it.

Students proudly presented their projects to K4โ€“2nd grade โ€œtourists,โ€ sharing the historical, economic, geographic, and governmental significance of each location.

We are so proud of the impressive preparation, teamwork, creativity, and presentation skills our students demonstrated throughout this exciting experience! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ“š

Our students just wrapped up an exciting genetics unit with our **Project Alien** activity! ๐Ÿ‘ฝ๐Ÿงฌ

Each student was randomly assigned genotypes and learned which traits were dominant or recessive. Using this information, they brought their very own alien to life by illustrating its physical traits (phenotype).

But it didnโ€™t stop there! Students then โ€œpairedโ€ their alien with a parent alien and used Punnett squares to predict the probability of inherited traits. With those results, they designed the next generation of their alien species!

This hands-on project was a fun and creative way to apply genetics concepts while thinking like real scientists. We loved seeing their imagination and understanding come together! ๐ŸŒŸ
