Green careers are the future, and they're hiring. 🌱💡
The 10th Annual NWF EcoCareers Summit wrapped this past Spring, and the energy was electric. Students from across the country connected with professionals in climate, conservation, and sustainability, and we were left inspired and motivated for the future!
✨ Career paths aren't linear. Try new things.
✨ Networking isn't scary. Your people are out there.
✨ Green skills are in demand. Across every industry.
Àngel Peña said it best: "We need young folks; we need their vision and their energy."

For 11 years, the National Wildlife Federation's Eco-Schools program and GM have teamed up to turn classrooms into innovation labs.
During the 2025–26 school year alone, over 20 schools across Michigan, Ohio, New York, and Missouri participated in the GM Green STEAM Partnership, building the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Click the link to read more about Flint Hill Elementary, where students wrote their own "Eco-Code" and turned their campus into a living laboratory, even growing hydroponic lettuce to be served in the cafeteria! 🥬
Or Hull Prairie Elementary, where, with nearly 200 students involved, they expanded from a few buckets to a 40-plant hydroponic tower! They raised trout, tackled composting, and donated fresh produce to local food banks. 🐟
Sustainability can be a pathway to critical thinking, leadership, and community action. We are so proud of these young leaders!

Through sessions and hands-on workshops, participants gain tools, insights, and connections that help turn sustainability goals into action within their schools and communities. The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) model is rooted in mounting evidence that youth voice is essential in developing programs that are truly youth-informed and youth-inspired. Across nonprofit and public sectors, youth advisory bodies are becoming increasingly common, and for good reason—youth leaders should have a say in programs developed for them.
This year, our third iteration of the NWF Youth Advisory Council—made possible through our partnership with General Motors—will help inform Eco-Schools initiatives, green career planning, and broader youth leadership programming.
Scroll to meet the six individuals who are lending their time and expertise to this critical work!
