Last Thursday, we welcomed back our former Hughes Panthers for the annual South Lakes High School Senior Walk. It is always a joy to see our alumni in their caps and gowns walking these halls again. Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 💙 🩶 🎓 🐾

Panther Pride was on full display in Alexandria this past weekend. Our Advanced Theater students showcased their amazing talents at the Precipice Theater Annual Gala hosted at the historic George Washington Masonic Memorial. Thank you to our arts educators and families for continually supporting our young performers. 💙 🩶 🐾

Teamwork makes the dream work. Our girls' basketball team showed incredible growth, unified spirit, and unwavering support for one another this season. 🐾

It is almost time to celebrate our 8th-grade scholars and show off our Panther Pride as they prepare for high school! Our students have worked incredibly hard during their middle school journey, and we cannot wait to honor their achievements.

Throwing it back to our SOL Prep Rally to keep that energy high. Our Hughes Middle School community is the best around, and we know our students are prepared to shine during this last week of testing. Thank you to our faculty and parents for supporting our scholars through every step of the process. 🐾

Our 7th-grade scholars traded the classroom for the great outdoors this week! Students visited Lake Accotink Park for their Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE). They spent the day testing water quality, identifying local wildlife, and learning how we can protect our local Reston watersheds. 💙 🩶

There is no pride quite like Panther Pride, and it starts with our incredible staff! Whether they are tutoring after school, cheering on the sidelines of a game, or mentoring a student in need, our teachers go above and beyond every single day. We are lucky to have the best team in Reston. 🐾

Today is School Principals’ Appreciation Day! We want to take a moment to recognize the incredible leadership at Hughes Middle School. Our Principal works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure our scholars have a safe, supportive, and engaging environment to learn in every day.
