Today we recognize Juneteenth, a celebration and commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. Also known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day, Juneteenth marks a day in 1865 when enslaved Texans learned they would be free, two months after the end of the Civil War and two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.

๐ End-of-the-Year Fun! ๐
Students in Ms. Keyserโs Kindergarten class got busy cleaning their desks with shaving cream as they prepared for summer break! ๐ซงโจ What looked like fun (and it was!) also helped students practice fine motor skills while making their desks sparkle.
A fun and memorable way to celebrate the last days of an amazing school year! โ๏ธ๐ Fairfax County Public Schools Aldrin PTA FCPS Region 1 Melanie Meren
