Sips for Supplies: One Tolbert Warrior's Sweet Act of Kindness
At Tolbert Elementary, we are blessed to be surrounded by students who lead with kindness, compassion, and a heart for serving others. Today, we are excited to recognize one very special student, Maylen McCormick, for her inspiring community service project, "Sips for Supplies."
Earlier this summer, Maylen shared a simple but powerful idea with her family: she wanted to help students in need at her school. Determined to make a difference, she organized a community lemonade stand to raise money for school supplies and essential items for fellow Tolbert Warriors.
What started as a small lemonade stand quickly became a remarkable show of community support. Thanks to the generosity of family, friends, neighbors, and local supporters, Maylen raised enough funds to purchase an incredible collection of supplies, including pencils, notebooks, folders, headphones, crayons, markers, scissors, pencil boxes, and other items that will directly benefit students throughout the school year.
Even more touching, when she learned about additional needs among her classmates, Maylen eagerly expanded her efforts to include personal care and comfort items that can help students feel confident and prepared for the school day.
Maylen's project is a beautiful reminder that you are never too young to make a meaningful difference. Her empathy, initiative, and servant leadership embody the very best of what it means to be a Tolbert Warrior.
We are incredibly proud of Maylen and thankful to her family and the many community members who supported her vision. Together, you have demonstrated the power of kindness and the impact one caring heart can have on an entire school community.
Please join us in celebrating Maylen for turning a glass of lemonade into an opportunity to spread hope, support, and love throughout Tolbert Elementary!
