These three Lyon Leaders took time last week to serve at the district Backpacks and Beyond event by distribruting FREE school supplies to families! During the school year, these students were on the SuppLYON student leadership team which organizes and packs free school supplies for students in Republic.

100% of Lyon Leaders serve on a student leadership team and will find out their team for the 26-27 school year at our BIG reveal assembly on September 11!

We are counting down the days until we see our Lyon Family at Open House! When you join us on August 18 between 5:30-7:00 pm, you will be able to meet your child's teacher, tour the building, leave supplies for the first day, meet PTO and so much more!

While you are here, you will also receive a lot of important information for the year and have the opportunity to engage in a few activities to welcome the back to school season.

When you enter the building, your family will be invited to leave a note on the main bulletin board to share what you and your child is most excited about for the 26-27 school year.

In the classroom, each desk will have information from their child's teacher along with a magnet calendar of Lyon events for the year, a brochure with an overview of systems at Lyon AND a blank note card. This note card is to be completed and left on your child's desk at Open House. They will open this note of encouragement on the first day of school. If your family cannot attend, don't worry! We have a plan in place to ensure 100% of students have a welcome back note to open on August 25.

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

We want to celebrate every goal our Lyon Leaders achieve! As a way to recognize the hard work, perseverance and success of our learners within and beyond the walls of our school, we invite you to share your celebrations with us! This year, we will recognize the three pillars of our mission to Lead, Love, and Learn through the following awards connected to our theme: There's No Place Like Lyon.
The Tin Man's Heart Award for leading with kindness in our hearts. (LOVE)
The Scarecrow's Growth Award for growing stronger in our minds through academic goals. (LEARN)
The Courageous Lion Award for leading with courage and perseverance in our choices. (LEAD)
New this year is the Bluebird Achievement Award. Like the song, Somewhere Over the Rainbow says, "And, the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true." We can't to celebrate the personal goals of our Lyon students! Has your child recently learned a new skill or met a goal at home? We want to shout it out! These milestones can be anything from learning to tie their shoes, to riding a bike to leveling up at gymnastics and so much more! When we receive a response on the Bluebird form, we will post our Bluebirds on the Goals and Celebrations board in the hall, shout them out on our Lyon Elementary page AND recognize all of our Bluebirds at the monthly assembly. Our goal is for 100% of students to be celebrated for one of these goals and recognized at an assembly at least once this year. We can't wait to see how our "happy little bluebirds fly!" Stay turned for the link to this form in your classroom newsletters each week!
