The Lost and Found continues to grow, especially as the weather warms up and kids take off their coats and sweatshirts outside at recess.

Traffic Impacts: SE May Valley Road Closure Starting June 2026 05/31/2026

Traffic Alert: SE May Valley Road Closure Begins June 15

Families who travel through May Valley, Mirrormont, Tiger Mountain, or the Issaquah-Hobart area should plan for significant traffic impacts this summer.

King County will replace the aging Fifteen Mile Creek Bridge on SE May Valley Road, resulting in lane restrictions and a full road closure that will affect local traffic and some school bus routes.

Important Dates
๐Ÿšง Beginning June 2
โ€ข Temporary lane restrictions may begin.
โ€ข School buses and emergency vehicles will be prioritized whenever possible.
๐Ÿšง Beginning June 15
โ€ข SE May Valley Road will fully close at the bridge location.
โ€ข No vehicle, bicycle, or pedestrian access will be available through the construction zone.
๐Ÿšง Projected Reopening
โ€ข August 23, 2026
โ€ข Construction is expected to last 10โ€“12 weeks and could extend into the start of the 2026-27 school year.

Who Will Be Affected?
This closure will primarily impact families attending:
Maple Hills Elementary
Maywood Middle School
Liberty High School

Families who live in or travel through May Valley, Mirrormont, Tiger Mountain, and surrounding areas should expect longer travel times and increased traffic on detour routes.

School Bus Information
The Issaquah School District Transportation Department is actively planning for the closure.
โ€ข Bus stop locations will remain the same.
โ€ข Families on affected routes will receive updated bus schedules in early June.
โ€ข Morning pickup times may be earlier to ensure students arrive at school on time.
โ€ข Afternoon drop-off times may be later due to detours and traffic.

What You Can Do Now
โœ” Review the detour route.
โœ” Practice your alternate route before June 15.
โœ” Allow extra travel time for drop-off and pickup.
โœ” Watch for transportation updates from the district.
