ArtsEd ofWashington is offering their K-5 Art Curriculum for free. These lessons are a great way to include art into your learning plan at home. For all ages!

Here are a sampling of the relief prints my students worked on for a winter project. It is the first linoleum block carving. We have been carving a variety of other objects for printing to get up to this point.

Wrapping up our early Native America’s study, learning about the Maya, Aztec and Inca Empires, Wesley chose a few Mayan symbols to reproduce as styrofoam print blocks. Clockwise, from top left: flint, blue/green, fire and water. Fun, creative learning!!

This is our first project of the year at H.O.M.E. Program. The emphasis is on line and the subject is the transition from summer to fall, "the Fall Equinox".
Legacy Arts Academy has a new venue! I am instructing art at H.O.M.E. Program of the Renton School District and I am excited to get started! I am happy to continue creating art opportunities for kids of all ages! Back to school!

Art, Education and the World around us.
With Sunflowers in bloom, their beauty and stature, the opportunity to create and to teach is inviting!
"What do you see? Why do you say that? What else do you see?" This opens up the dialog between the student, the artwork and the art docent.
Through this process of observation, kindergarten and 1st grade students are grasping math standards that reflect knowledge of sorting shapes, describing location of objects and making direct comparisons using measurable attributes such as length, weight and capacity.
Introducing visual art elements such as line, shape, texture and color begin to provide the tools to create, experience and discover multiple visual arts media.
Using everyday items and a few craft supplies, let's make a sunflower!
