Coming home is more than coming home. It’s healing, rebuilding, reconnecting, and finding your way back to yourself and the people you love.

Freedom Project is proud to share “Coming Home to Self,” a culturally grounded re-entry healing series from therapyfundfoundation and The ZOLA Experience.

The next conversation, “A Time for Letting Go,” is happening August 19 from 5:00–6:30 PM.

This space is for people navigating re-entry and the families and loved ones walking alongside them. Because re-entry impacts the whole family, and healing deserves community too.

Freedom Project stands in solidarity with the incarcerated artists of Solidarity Art Collective whose work was removed from an exhibition at the Burke Museum just hours before it was scheduled to open.

After nine months of collaboration, creation, relationship building, and preparation, artists were told that some of their work would not be displayed because of their criminal charges.

We believe deeply in something different.

People are more than the worst thing they have ever done. Incarceration should not erase creativity, culture, dignity, voice, or the possibility of transformation.

Art is expression. Art is healing. Art is storytelling. And the stories of people directly impacted by incarceration deserve space in our cultural institutions too.

We stand with Solidarity Art Collective in their call for a new home for this exhibit.

It’s all of us or none of us.

This conversation matters.

Our Executive Director, Marvin Marshall, joined KIRO 7 News to talk about the realities of community violence intervention because this isn’t work we observe. It’s work we do.

Every day, community-based organizations are on the front lines. Building trust, interrupting cycles of violence, mentoring young people, supporting families, and showing up long after the headlines fade.

Lasting public safety requires investment in the people and organizations already doing the work. Prevention, healing, opportunity, and relationships are not extras. They’re essential.

Thank you to KIRO 7 for creating space for these voices and for highlighting the importance of community-led solutions.

Together, we create opportunities.
