This is great news! King County has formally purchased the property along SR 169. From years of worry brought on by a potential asphalt plant to many positive possibilities for the local community (Parks! Protected habitat!), kudos to the loud voices and persistent efforts of Save the Cedar River. You did it.

We currently offer language translations on our site primarily through Google Translate. This helps visitors find and use information in the languages they speak, but the tool is not perfect. Automated translation may be inaccurate or errors may display on translated pages.

Upper Elementary lived our school’s mission in the first few days of school by staying curious, growing by exploring and asking questions, and showing respect for ourselves, others, and the natural world. What will they discover the rest of the year?

Many thanks to our alumni who returned to Cedar River Montessori this summer for an animal care morning! It was so much fun watching them meet the new pigs and goats and reconnect with old animal friends. Not to mention these hard-working alumni made a huge difference in catching up with mucking! All the best to them and all our former students as they return to high school and college in the coming days.

CRMS alum check-in! Last week, Emelia (‘23) wrapped up her (paid!) summer internship with Mountains To Sound Greenway and King County Wastewater Treatment Division as a Clean Water Ambassador. As part of a small cohort of high school students, Emmy learned about local environmental issues, solutions, and careers focused on clean water in our region. Her experience culminated in a presentation about what she learned and how she plans to apply it in the future. A fun connection happened when Emmy met Becca Kedenburg, Mountains to Sound’s Senior Manager of Education and Volunteers. Becca’s son is a former CRMS student!

Helping hands in Early Childhood this summer! One of our school values is Connection: What we do matters and impacts nature, community, and the wider world. Helping others is a real-world way for young children to practice connecting with their community. Recent helping hands included unwrapping a popsicle for a younger child, pushing classmates on the spinner, showing steps for a lesson, and sharing a flower in the garden. One young student even practiced connection off campus this past weekend - selling popcorn at the Renton Children’s Business Fair during Renton River Days!
