Wednesday, August 26th is the first day of school for our 1st-5th grade students. Arrival starts at 8:25 and the school day starts at 8:45, first bell at 8:40. This is a FULL DAY of school and students will be dismissed at 3:25. We are so excited to start learning! 💛

PTSA will host a welcome back event in the school library after drop-off for grownups from 8:45–9:30 a.m. Enjoy coffee and sweet treats while connecting with other families, meeting school staff and PTSA members.

Kindergarten starts Monday, August 31st and kindergarten grownups will have another chance for coffee and sweet treats in the library with PTSA and school staff. 💙

Fairwood Families, it is almost time for back to school! On Monday, August 24th at 2:30pm students and families are invited to our Teacher Meet & Greet. Classes will be posted and students can see their new rooms and say hello to their teachers and other school staff.

Stop by the PTSA table during the Teacher Meet & Greet to learn about PTSA membership and discover ways to get involved throughout the school year. PTSA also be handing out FREE popsicles while supplies last.

We can't wait to say hello! 💙💛

☀️ Summer just started... but we're already getting excited for back-to-school! 🎒📚
We're thrilled to announce that FREE school supply kits will be available for Kent School District students to help families get ready for a successful school year!
Each grade-level kit is packed with the supplies students need, including items like notebooks, pencils, crayons or colored pencils, folders, glue sticks, headphones or earbuds, and more.
🎨 Pre-K
🖍️ Crayons, water paints, Play-Doh, and glue sticks.
🍎 Kindergarten & 1st Grade
Primary notebooks, headphones, pencils, crayons, water paints, folders, glue sticks, a pencil pouch, and an eraser.
📓 2nd & 3rd Grade
Composition notebooks, headphones, pencils, crayons, folders, glue sticks, a pencil pouch, and an eraser.
✏️ 4th & 5th Grade
Composition notebooks, headphones, pencils, colored pencils, folders, glue sticks, a pencil pouch, an eraser, and (5th grade) index cards.
🎓 Middle School
Composition notebooks, pencils, colored pencils, folders, highlighters, index cards, a pencil pouch, an eraser, and wired earbuds.
🎒 High School

Mrs. Riddle shared with us that this year our Multilingual Education students at Fairwood enjoyed listening to Audiobooks on a Tonie device purchased for students with a grant from the Kent Schools Foundation.

Titles include fiction and nonfiction books that appeal to varied interests and different age groups in our K-5 program. Some of the kids’ favorites are the National Geographic Astronaut book, and the Magic Treehouse series. Another popular title is the Chicka Chicka Boom-Boom book, which helps them learn the alphabet letters and sounds.

Thank you Kent Schools Foundation and Mrs. Riddle for building the love of reading in all our students. 💙
