Bellingham voters will have an important rental housing issue on the ballot this November. Initiative 2026-01 would create new rules around the use of algorithmic tools by housing providers, along with new penalties and enforcement options.

WMFHA’s first-ever Affordable Housing Summit!

This event brought together affordable housing professionals for a day of learning, networking, brainstorming, and connection. Sessions covered important topics including the applicant experience, affordable housing compliance, insurance, filling vacancies, resident retention, MFTE and ARCH updates, and mental health support for housing professionals.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so valuable. We appreciate the thoughtful conversations, shared experiences, and commitment to supporting affordable housing communities.

Our thoughts are with everyone across the Spokane community impacted by the devastating wildfires.
Governor Ferguson has issued an emergency proclamation with temporary housing requirements affecting Spokane and other impacted counties, including provisions related to eviction orders, wildfire displacement, and residents sheltering displaced people and their pets.

Today is Primary Election Day in Washington State.

If you haven’t already, be sure to return your ballot by 8:00 p.m. Washington voters can also register and vote in person through Election Day at their county elections office if they haven’t already registered.

At WMFHA, we know that public policy shapes the future of housing in our state. Decisions made at every level of government influence housing affordability, investment, development, and the communities we all call home.

Participating in the democratic process is one of the most important ways to make your voice heard.
