As the 2025–2026 school year has come to a close, we reflect with deep gratitude on the remarkable community that has defined Doane Stuart for the past 50 years. The dedication of our faculty, staff, students, families, alumni, and supporters created a school where a love of learning was discovered, character was strengthened, and lifelong friendships were formed.

After careful and extensive deliberation, the Board of Trustees made the difficult decision to cease operations of The Doane Stuart School, effective September 1, 2026.

While this chapter is coming to an end, the impact of Doane Stuart and its predecessor schools, Kenwood Academy and St. Agnes School, will endure far beyond our campus. The values instilled here, the experiences shared, and the lives shaped within these walls will continue through the thousands who will carry the spirit of Doane Stuart into the world.

To everyone who has been part of our story over the past five decades, thank you. Your support and belief in our mission have made Doane Stuart far more than a school; they have made it a community whose legacy will live on for generations to come.

💡Fun Fact Friday💡

While our little Thunderchickens are out at recess, Upper School students head to Club Period, and Middle School students get to choose!

Because education is about more than academics, clubs are built into the school day, giving students dedicated time to discover who they are and what they're passionate about.

This post highlights just a few of the many clubs at Doane Stuart. ♟️ Chess Club hosted a 1 vs. 10 tournament against club advisor Mr. Bradt, while 🤝 No Place for Hate and 🗣️ Student Government teamed up for a presentation celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

☀️ With 27 acres to explore, learn, and grow, our campus is an extension of the classroom.

Through Outdoor Wilderness Learning, students planted Red Maple and Dogwood saplings this year while exploring environmental stewardship and ecology.🌳Experiences like these are just one of the many ways our campus brings learning to life through curiosity, discovery, and fun!😊

What is a Thunderchicken? 🐔⚡

They are rare birds! Smart problem-solvers who find creative solutions, compassionate leaders who are inclusive and kind, and engaged citizens within their flock.

Our students brought this idea to life through their Thunderchicken paintings this year, each one a unique expression of what it means to be part of our flock.🎨✨

👏Congratulations to our Director of Technology and English Teacher, Dr. Stephen Costa, who was invited to be a panelist at the Capital Region Community College AI Symposium.

The symposium brought together educators and leaders from across the Capital Region to discuss the responsible and practical use of artificial intelligence in education. We're proud to have Dr. Costa representing Doane Stuart as part of this important regional discussion on the future of learning.💡
