On Friday, NNYLDA held its Annual Fishing Tournament, with 14 boats heading out from Clayton, Alexandria Bay, and Henderson Harbor for a great day on the water!

The festivities kicked off Thursday night with an open bar at the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel, sponsored by Quikrete. Bright and early on Friday, the fishermen headed out from their designated ports in search of Bass, Walleye, and Salmon, armed with NNYLDA coolers packed with lunch and refreshments sponsored by Merriman’s Inc.

A huge thank you to Tim Clark of Erie Materials and the entire NNYLDA Fishing Committee for putting together another fantastic event. It was a huge hit and one we’ll definitely be looking forward to again next year!

On Friday, August 21st, NRLA Director of Legislative & Regulatory Affairs Kevin Scorsone made the trip to Milan Lumber Company in Milan, NH for a ceremonial signing of Senate Bill 529 with Governor Kelly Ayotte.

The legislation is a significant win for the lumber industry in New Hampshire and the broader building materials industry. The bill gives preference to lumber sourced in the United States for state-funded building projects, strengthening support for domestic lumber producers and the broader forest products industry.

The visit also highlighted other important legislation signed by Governor Ayotte earlier this year, including measures focused on the grading and use of timber in New Hampshire, as well as the use of spruce-pine-fir lumber.

On Friday, August 14, the NRLA had the opportunity to meet with Rep. Gabe Amo (D-RI 01) and his staff at Humphrey’s Building Supply in Tiverton, RI. Steve Carreira and his team were proud to showcase their facility and accompany Rep. Amo on a yard tour.

After the tour, Rep. Amo was gracious enough to sit down with Carreira and members of the Humphrey’s team to discuss issues that are important in Rhode Island and to the NRLA. The conversation focused on the Credit Card Competition Act, the ROAD to Housing, CDL licenses, the future of fleet vehicles, and how decisions in the legislature can impact delivery, efficiency, and cost for small businesses. NRLA Director of Government Affairs Kevin Scorsone joined Steve & The Humphrey’s Team during their time with Rep. Amo and his staff.
