🥋 What Jiu-Jitsu Is Really About 🥋
Yesterday was a special night at Sanchez Jiu-Jitsu as we celebrated the promotion of several students and the incredible growth of the Todd family over the past 2½ years.
Mike Todd, what a journey. Mike has transformed himself physically and mentally, going from 285 lbs down to 195 lbs. That’s 90 pounds of hard work, discipline, consistency, and determination. Watching that transformation has been nothing short of amazing. 👊
Levi, when he started, he was just a young 12 year old kid. Now, at 15, he has grown into a mature young man who continues to challenge himself, learn, and push forward every day. Watching him grow both on and off the mats has been incredible.
Logan, seeing the change in him has been just as special. From a young man who lacked confidence to someone who carries himself with confidence and believes in himself. Jiu-jitsu has helped him discover something that was inside him all along.
But one of the most special parts of watching the Todd family’s journey has been seeing a father and his sons train together. There is something incredibly powerful about Mike, Levi, and Logan being able to step onto the mats together, challenge each other, encourage each other, and grow alongside one another.
Father and son time is valuable, but getting to share something as challenging and rewarding as jiu-jitsu makes it even more special. They get to experience the struggles, the victories, the tough practices, the promotions, and all the little moments in between, together. Those are memories that go far beyond anything that happens on the mats. ❤️
I honestly couldn't have imagined the amount of growth that would happen within the entire Todd family when they first stepped through our doors 2½ years ago.
And this is what jiu-jitsu is about.
It’s not just about belts, medals, submissions, or winning matches.
It’s about becoming a better version of yourself than you were yesterday.
It’s about learning to push through things that are difficult.
It’s about building confidence when you don't have it.
It’s about discipline when motivation isn't there.
It’s about surrounding yourself with people who want to see you succeed.
And most importantly, it’s about growth.
Mike, Levi, and Logan, we are incredibly proud of all three of you. Watching your family grow together on this journey is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do at Sanchez Jiu-Jitsu.
Congratulations to everyone on your promotions, but even more importantly, congratulations on the people you are becoming. Keep showing up. Keep pushing. Keep becoming better.
