The OSNA fundraising team would like to inform you about a new fundraising opportunity to help us raise more money to better support our students!

All you have to do to support OSNA is click on the link that is on the attached PDF, pick out their items, and pay through the Yankee Candle site. This way your items will be shipped directly to you!

Also, its not just candles! The catalog contains candles, wax melts, yard decorations, Popcornopolis, gift wrap, and air fresheners!

We can not wait for the orders to start rolling in! The deadline for the competition is November 16th! Family and friends can participate in the fundraiser online until January 9th. We appreciate your support! Please feel free to message OSNA with questions.

OSNA Welcome Back BBQ was a blast! Thank you level ones, mentors, and staff for coming to welcome our newest Orvis faces. Activities hosted a wonderful event, and a special thank you to and her husband for cooking up some amazing BBQ 🍔🌭

Orvis is hosting a premiere showing of “Broken Propeller”, please see details below. Hope to see you there.

The film is about the story of the first responders at the crash at the Reno Air Races in 2011. The premiere is sponsored by Orvis School of Nursing, September 16, 2018 (Sunday) at the Joe Crowley Student Union Theatre, University of Nevada Reno. The doors open at 7 p.m. Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and at the door. Ticket sales benefit the Cherie Elvin Memorial Fund at Renown Health Foundation. The fund was created by the Elvin Family as a legacy to honor their mother, Cherie, who died at the 2011 Reno Races. Tickets can be purchased at www.gypsymothproduction.com

On September 8th from 8am - 4pm, OSNA will be hosting a rummage sale in the CMM plaza here on campus! Coffee and free doughnuts will be served to the first 24 people who purchase items. Please call or text 775-815-3977 to arrange for pick up if you are unable to drop off items. Pick up dates will start August 27th, spaces limited.

*For larger items, please drop off day of event or ask Ashleigh and Sarah about pick-up options. We have limited storage for larger items so it will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

We have an exciting day for Nevada nurses and nursing school students coming up on October 6th, 2018! The Nevada Nurses Foundation, in collaboration with more than a dozen professional nursing organizations, individuals, and institutions, is hosting the Shining Stars of Nursing in Nevada and the Shining Stars of Nursing in Nevada Student Event. The evening gala event includes food, networking and celebrations as NNF acknowledges and honors the accomplishments of nursing colleagues and scholarship recipients. The event is being held at the Nugget Casino from 6-10 p with a VIP reception at 5 pm. Tickets are $75 for students and include the VIP reception. There is also a special room rate of $89 for those attending the event.

The Orvis Student Nurses Association is proud to be assisting the NNF with the Student Event. This will be held on the Redfield Campus of UNR on October 6th, 2018 from 9 am – 1 pm. This event is FREE for all students but you must register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/shining-stars-of-nursing-in-nevada-student-event-tickets-48677310145. The event includes presentations from Larry Slater, PhD, RN-BC, CNE, the Director of the Undergraduate Program and a Clinical Associate Professor at the New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing as well as presentation from NNF and the Nevada Nurses Associations. A free NCLEX review hosted by Becker and lunch will be provided. Vendors from various nursing related universities and companies will be on site. All students that register to attend by September 10th will be entered into a drawing to receive a FULL SCHOLARSHIP to the evening gala.

Check out these beautiful OSNA ladies at the Christmas in July event, serving food and handing out toiletry bags/ gifts to families and individuals in need! Thank you Reno Gospel Mission Church for letting us help to serve at your event. Also, OSNA was fortunate enough to be able to donate 7 tickets purchased by our awesome supporters. These two grateful families were so excited, thank you to everyone who contributed.

Orvis School of Nursing is at it again with another amazing community service opportunity! We are hosting a Shoe Drive for Homeless & At-Risk Youth with The Eddy House (http://eddyhouse.org/). Please message OSNA for instructions on where to drop off gently worn or new shoe donations. All donations welcome, we appreciate your generosity!
