Madison was awarded an Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) Award with Nevada INBRE last summer under Dr. Nathan Grainger, and continued on to receive the Nevada Undergraduate Research Award (NURA) this year! Congratulations!

Our Nevada INBRE summer programs are on in full force, including our 3rd cohort of the Microbiome Research Bootcamp!

Yesterday, Dr. Steven Frese worked with the Microbiome Research cohort where they learned how to extract DNA and prepare samples for sequencing. 🧬

Last week, some of our Nevada INBRE team attended the National IDeA Symposium of Biomedical Research Excellence (NISBRE) in Washington DC!

Dr. Juli Petereit and Dr. Nicole Falk-Smith presented a poster on the Data Science Initiative at our UNR Campus which was supported by an INBRE supplemental award for Building Data Science Capacity.

Yesterday, we got to see Kalvin Chan’s talk for his graduate presentation in the Biotechnology Symposium at UNR! Kalvin started with NV INBRE as a UROP student participant in 2022, and was also funded through the Regional Alliance of INBRE Networks (RAIN) in 2023 to participate in a summer research experience at the Rocky Mountain National Lab in Hamilton, MT.
