As the world comes together to celebrate the World Cup, we're reminded that success, whether on the field or in our communities, depends on teamwork, preparation, resilience and trust.

These same values are at the heart of public health. Every day, public health professionals work alongside communities to build a healthier, safer and stronger future for all.

As we celebrate Juneteenth today, we honor the end of slavery in the United States and reflect on the resilience, achievements and contributions of Black Americans.

President Brian Sandoval reminded us this week that Juneteenth is an opportunity to recognize the trailblazers whose courage and determination helped shape our communities, our state and our University. That same commitment to justice, equity and opportunity guides our work in public health as we continue advancing health and well-being for all.

A day at the fair and a chance to connect with the community? That's a winning combination! 🎪

The DEER Program shared how to improve the lives of people living with dementia and their care partners through education, research and community engagement. We want to thank everyone who stopped by to visit Dr. Jennifer Carson and the The DEER Program while they were at the State Fair of Nevada.

New research from the University of Nevada, Reno School of Public Health is examining how ankle mobility, balance and stride length influence pitching mechanics. Led by alumnus Zack Buck, the study explores how small movements in the lower body can affect performance on the mound.

When Debbie Leone began her career with CASATunr more than 20 years ago, we were navigating flip phones, Crocs, and the early days of Facebook. At CASAT, Debbie helped students navigate something far more important...coursework, career pathways, and meaningful service in their communities.

After more than two decades with the CASAT, Debbie is retiring from her role as Academic Administrative Assistant, where she mostly supported undergraduate students as an enrollment advisor.

Across every role she held, Debbie brought care, patience, and steady support to the students, faculty, and staff around her. Her impact is felt in classrooms, careers, and communities across Nevada and beyond.

Thank you, Debbie, for more than 20 years of dedication and student support. You will be missed.

We were honored to join our partners at Nevada Donor Network for their Governor’s Award Dinner — an inspiring evening celebrating the lifesaving impact of organ, eye and tissue donation across our state.

Sharing the time with friends, faculty and community partners made for especially meaningful moments as we continue working together to expand access to the hope and healing donation provides.
