Roger Corbett Elementary School

The last ten years have been amazing for me as the principal at Roger Corbett Elementary School. As a school community we have increased our focus on academics and providing students with the highest quality education! Every child deserves this and I’m so proud of our students, past and present. We have created a place where students feel safe and a sense of belonging.

It has been my honor to serve as your principal. It is bittersweet as I move onto a new position in the district supporting elementary school instruction amd leadership.

We waved goodbye and blew kisses from the basketball courts as our fantastic students pulled away for the summer on buses! We said goodbye and we hope the Corbett students saw the love from the staff as we wish them well for the summer! What they didn’t see was so many of us crying as we saw the students leave! We love our Corbett family!

The 2023 Nevada Legislature changed the Kindergarten age guidelines for all public schools. For the 2023-2024 school year, children must be five years of age on or before August 1.

Party! Party! Two parties in two days to celebrate those students who made their grade level goal for sight words and/or the school goal of 1000 words! We even had two first grade students who made the 1000 goal!!!

Next, we celebrated those students who met the math fact goal in grades 3, 4, 5 and memorized their multiplication facts. Whoop!

Thank you Doughboys Donuts and Black Rock Dessert for your generous donations to our school community. we are so grateful to you!

Wooster Walk over happened and we are so proud of these students. As the principal, these students were in 2nd grade when I started at Corbett. Cougars to Colts, you make us so proud!

Second grade attended the Reno Aces Baseball game! Such a fun day and time with friends!

Last day of school is June 14th. Students are out at 1:20! Summer school starts Tuesday, June 20th for those students who are registered.

Field day is June 9th. Students will participate in fun games and activities outside with their class. Students will get wet so please no white shirts and no sandals or flip flops. Tennis shoes only. Bring a water bottle and sunscreen with the student’s name written on both!

A great night honoring some of the talented and dedicated teachers from Corbett at the Washoe Education Association Award Bamquet. Honored tonight was our Dean, Rachael Gates, counselor Kathleen Johnson, teachers Liz Cavender, Beth Lichten, Lynn Blackwell, Holly Palmer, Ashleigh Shaw, Jessica Acosta, and Instrctional Coach, Cristal Wilson! We had the most teachers from the school district. So proud of our school and our staff!

It’s Staff Appreciation Week! We have such amazing staff at Roger Corbett Elementary School! A note of thanks, a flower or some chocolate are some easy ways to say “thank you” to your favorite staff members!

The staff were treated to Starbucks and doughnuts yesterday! On Monday, Capriottis donated lunch for our fantastic bunch! Post it notes and fancy pens! All to say thank you!
