Our campers aren't the only ones on a scavenger hunt this summer.
We're on the hunt for volunteer nurses to help support our Summer Camp programs. Whether you're a retired healthcare professional, nursing student, PA student, medical student or practicing nurse, we'd love to hear from you. The only requirement? Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Know someone who'd be a great fit? Tag them below or send them our way! Email us at [email protected].

Swipe for some garden glow-ups!
Gardening for All is a year-long program where we help local families, schools, nonprofits and community organizations bring underused or bare spaces into productive gardens. We provide the materials, education and support needed to turn ideas into thriving growing spaces. The result? More fresh food, more hands-on learning and communities that continue to grow together.

Join us this weekend at SOIL PALOOZA, a free, education-focused family friendly community gathering!
At Urban Roots we believe garden-education should be available to all – inspiring our annual free Soil Palooza celebration. This year’s theme is local food systems, featuring a speaker panel, games from our own camp curriculum led by our own educators teaching about food forests and mutual aid, and vendors and educators from the community focusing on pollination and soil health. Bonus, you'll encounter thoughtfully crafted local food and beverages!
It’s not too late to RSVP either! While it's a free event, those who RSVP will be entered to win a beehive from the Urban Roots farm along with educational resources from our community partners. There's also a few stellar raffle prizes (tickets for sale on site), including local restaurant gift cards, a Vitamix composter and even a much-beloved festival ticket or two!
When? Saturday, May 30th from 5:00PM to 8:00PM
Where? The Urban Teaching Farm, 1700 E Second St., Reno, NV 89503
Why? To better your gardens, or start gardening, get involved in your local food systems, and to help us support sustainable programming and education at Urban Roots.
Big thanks to our wonderful sponsors bringing this event to life:
Sierra Nevada Dahlia Society, Bee Culture Magazine and KUNR Public Radio!

What do ants, costumes, dinosaurs and watersheds have in common? They're all integrated into Summer Camp weeks at Urban Roots - and your kiddo can still snag a spot! It may not feel like summer today, but trust us, you'll be grabbing the sunscreen and shorts in no time and you'll no doubt want to have an exciting place lined up for your little one to learn new things, meet fun friends, and make unforgettable memories.
Urban Roots summer camp programs give children a head start in understanding where their food comes from, empowers them to grow their own food today and in the future, and provides them with a healthy appreciation - and appetite! - for the ingredients in our meals.
And just in case you were curious, we promise... they're not eating ants, costumes or dinosaurs!
Check out what weeks have availability in the link below.

Today we'd like to take the opportunity to thank Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation for supporting our education programs! Because of this stellar group, kids and families get to learn and grow in a variety of different ways. We’re not just sprouting vegetables over here, we’re sprouting future gardeners, cooks and community leaders - and those seeds take root at an early age thanks to partners like these! We a-PEACH-iate how you help us lift up our community!
