Will G. wasn’t about to be left out of the Solo Club!

Today, he took to the sky for the first time without the security of a CFI sitting beside him—and you know what? He didn’t need it. He knew what he was doing, trusted his training, and put all those hours of learning into action.

There’s something pretty special about watching that moment when a student pilot realizes, “I’ve got this.” Today, Will proved that he does.

First solo. First time flying completely on his own. And one BIG milestone checked off the list. Welcome to the Solo Club, Will! We couldn’t be more proud of you.

Extended congratulations to his CFI, Andrea Perry on making sure Will was ready for this big day!

Another first solo flight today! Today it was TJ's turn to take to the air without his instructor. After a short flight over to Silver Springs this morning, TJ's instructor Greg Rudman decided today was the day to jump out and let TJ take to the skies on his own.

TJ has been very consistent with his training and keeps showing up week after week and moving forward with his training. Today it all paid off!

First solo flights are a milestone every pilot remembers, and watching TJ reach this point has been exciting! I always say that consistency is important in your training and here's the reason why! Remember you don’t have to train every day to make progress—you just have to keep showing up and stay consistent with your training.

Congratulations TJ and his CFI, Greg for making sure TJ was ready for this big milestone.

A HUGE milestone for Canyon!

Yesterday at KRNO, Canyon took to the skies on his own for the very first time!

Life is busy, and Canyon can only commit to training once a week—but what he can commit to, he does. His consistency, dedication, and willingness to keep showing up week after week have truly paid off.

First solo flights are a milestone every pilot remembers, and watching Canyon reach this point has been incredible. It’s a great reminder that you don’t have to train every day to make progress—you just have to keep showing up and stay consistent.

Congratulations, Canyon! We’re incredibly proud of you! Extended congratulations to his CFI, Colleen Lesinski and making sure Canyon was ready for this day!

Congratulations to Clay Whalen who also joined the Private Pilot club today! Clay has been working very hard and had a summer goal of finishing up his Private Pilot certificate. Lots of marathon study sessions and flash cards consumed part of his summer. This young man was on a mission and he achieved his goal!

What's up next for Clay? He's returning to college on Monday and will be working on his Instrument rating while attending college in Southern CA. We are excited to have been part of this major first step in your aviation career! We know you'll go far! Extended congratulations to his CFI, Jeremy Roberts on guiding Clay on this path.

Clay was also the first check ride conducted in our newest aircraft, N4419J!

Meet the latest member of the Private Pilot club in the Reno area! Congratulations to Orr Jacobson who earned his Private Pilot certificate in one of our Cherokee 180s.

Orr is a busy young man with balancing college, flight training and working on his A&P license. How he balanced everything was a challenge in itself but he managed it well. Today, that hard work paid off as he earned the title Private Pilot! Extended congratulations to his CFI, Ben Roller on making sure Orr was ready for this big day!

What's up next for Orr? He's returned to college this week and he is going to focus on getting his A&P license next. Being a licensed pilot in addition to knowing how to work on the aircraft will give him some very marketable skills once he earns his A&P license.

Congratulations again! We are proud of you and thank you for choosing BLFS to fly with!

BIG CONGRATULATIONS, Alexander Calalo

Today, Alex officially became a Private Pilot!

His journey began with a first lesson on June 29. Just a few weeks later, on July 18, he took to the skies on his first solo flight. And today, he earned his Private Pilot Certificate! Yes, that's right, only 54 days from his first lesson until he is a licensed pilot.

What makes this accomplishment even more exciting is knowing that this is only the beginning. Alex is an incredibly dedicated, hardworking pilot with his sights firmly set on becoming a Commercial Pilot and building a life in aviation.

And he’s not wasting any time! While today marks his first major milestone, he has already taken his Instrument Rating written exam and is putting in the time, effort, and hard work to keep moving forward.

Alex, you should be incredibly proud of what you’ve accomplished in such a short time. From that first lesson to becoming a licensed pilot—and already working toward your next rating—you’re proving that dedication and determination can take you anywhere.

The first step is officially complete. Now, onward and upward Private Pilot Alex!

Once again congratulations, Alex and extended congrats to his CFI, Ben Roller on guiding Alex on his journey! Thank you for taking us with you on this incredible journey!
