Year 4 started their knowledge harvest for their IPC topic on the Olympics this week. They were given the choice to create a timeline, mind map, informative paragraph or group presentation to the rest of the class. We learnt some really interesting facts about how the Olympics began, where they are held and how often they happen!

Children have begun to learn about Electrical circuits! This activity modelled electrical circuits using students to represent charges/electrons travelling around a circuit. Each child was given a sweet, representing energy, by a pupil representing a 'battery' and gave these to a 'lamp' student. Students loved it, especially when they ate the sweets afterwards!

This week Year 4 started rehearsing for their production in January. We've been practicing songs, learning lines, actions and even a few dance moves!
We've also been doing lots of different activities in Literacy and Numeracy such as Scrabble, Mathletics and a variety of puzzles to keep our minds active 😊

In Numeracy this week we have explored multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers by 1 number using a new method. Using different colours really helped us to understand place value when multiplying and we can't wait to work even more on our times table skills!

We have been experimenting with magnets this week in Science. We wanted to test which magnets was the strongest so we used 3 different types to pick up as many paperclips as possible. We then recorded our results after we had left the magnets for a long period of time.

Year 4 students got the chance to explore magnetism using magnets in their Science lesson. They used three different types of magnets and discovered how they attracted and repelled.

Year 4 worked on using Scratch in IPC today. They really enjoyed using it and exploring the different features.

For our Knowledge Harvest for Digital Gamers, children studied the key features of games. Students used the IPC Personal Learning Goal ‘Cooperation’ to work as teams to record as much knowledge as they could onto mind-maps.

As part of our Entry Point for IPC, ‘Digital Gamers’, Year 4 classrooms were turned into arcades. Children had a memorable lesson which has created great excitement for the learning ahead!

In IPC we had our exit point for our topic 'What's on the menu?' where Miss Hannah and Mr Siddiqui transformed the classroom into a mini restaurant! We learnt how to make healthy chicken wraps and used our best manners when asking for food!
