The last full month of summer saw the helping out with back to school welcoming events for local K-12 schools and the University campus. We welcomed our new Executive Board, and continued strengthening our partnerships as we head into another packed schedule of Hispanic Heritage Month while also planning for much more to come during the 2026-2027 school year.

We thank the Office of Hispanic/Latinx Community Relations (Vamos Pack) for organizing the 2026 Mi Casa es su Casa: A Latino Parent Welcome as part of NevadaFIT and for including the Latino Research Center at UNR. We joined many campus partners from Northern and Southern Nevada as the University of Nevada, Reno extended a warm welcome to the incoming freshmen students. The event drew over 300 families where University leadership, Deans or representatives from all several colleges provided information on safety, advising, programs of study and much more. We look forward to next Mi Casa es su Casa and continued growth!
