Flight training isn’t a race. Slow down, learn at the pace that works for you, and focus on building skills that will last, not just checking boxes. The goal isn’t to finish first; it’s to become a safe, confident, and capable pilot. ✈️

Congratulations, Kelsey Nelson!
A very big congratulations to Kelsey Nelson on earning her Private Pilot Certificate!
Kelsey is genuinely one of the most laid-back people you will ever meet. No matter what is happening, she somehow stays calm, takes everything in stride and makes even the most challenging parts of flight training look easy. But behind that easygoing personality is someone who is incredibly driven. Once Kelsey decides she is going to do something, there is really no question that she will find a way to make it happen.
And honestly, we’re still trying to figure out what she can’t do. Kelsey is a mom to three kids, works as a project engineer for a mine, helps run a go-kart track in Stead and now flies airplanes, too. As if that weren’t enough, she also has two go-karting championships under her belt! She manages to balance more than most people could imagine while still showing up with a positive attitude and making it all seem effortless.
Throughout her training, Kelsey proved that being calm and being determined can absolutely go hand in hand. She adapted to every new challenge, pushed herself through the stressful moments and continued working toward her goal one lesson at a time. Her ability to remain consistent, learn quickly and keep moving forward made her a pleasure to have around the airport and an incredibly rewarding student to watch succeed.
A special shoutout to her instructor, Trey, for guiding and supporting her throughout the process. It is always exciting to see an instructor and student work together toward such a major accomplishment, and we know this is a proud moment for both of them.
Kelsey, we are so proud of you and so excited to officially call you a private pilot. Congratulations on this well-earned accomplishment, we can’t wait to see what you decide to do next!

Somehow the questionable decisions always come with the BEST views.

Priorities? Debatable.
Adventure? Absolutely.
Life completely together? We’ll circle back.

At least the airplane is on the checklist. ✈️

IFR charts: because apparently flying the airplane wasn’t hard enough. ✈️

At first, “HELP” feels like a completely appropriate response to all those lines, numbers, symbols and tiny boxes.

Don’t worry… eventually it starts making sense. Eventually. 😏

Ready to level up your skills and become a sharper, safer, more capable pilot? Your instrument rating starts here. Get on the schedule and let’s train.

Flight training: where you voluntarily spend your time, money, and sanity being humbled by an airplane… and somehow walk away thinking, “That was AWESOME. When can I do it again?” ✈️

There will be frustrating days. There will be landings we don’t talk about. There will be moments when you question every life choice that led you to the airport.

And then there’s that one flight where everything clicks.

Yep. You’re going to suffer a little.

And yep… you’re going to be ridiculously happy about it.

And just like that… August slipped away into a moment in time.

But not before our pilots made it COUNT.

Another month of checkrides, ratings, milestones, hard work, early mornings, sweaty preflights, a little turbulence, a lot of studying, and some very well-earned celebrations.

August, you were a good one.

And yes, this is the obligatory use of Taylor Swift’s “august.” It’s August. There are rules. We don’t make them. 🤷‍♀️

To every GBA pilot who moved one step closer to the goal this month, we see you, we’re proud of you, and we love getting to celebrate these wins with you.

Here’s to the moments that make all the work worth it.

You’re living moments your younger self once only dreamed about. Don’t forget to look around and appreciate just how far you’ve come. ✈️

Just one of those little moments that reminds us our CFIs are human too.
They teach. They guide. They save us from ourselves… and every once in a while, they give us something to laugh about. 😂
We still trust you. Mostly.

🚨 Line Tech Public Service Announcement: 🚨
You can fly an airplane… but somehow the ratchet strap is where we lose you. 🤣
No knots. No creative rigging. No “extra security.” The ratchet has ONE JOB. Let it do its job.

Sincerely,
Line Techs Everywhere ✈️
