Artist at the Mansion! β€οΈ
Thank you, Amadour, for stopping by the Lake Mansion.
It was wonderful to welcome you and learn more about your work. We love and are proud of you being a Sparks/Reno home-grown talent, now conquering the art scene internationally, and are excited about the possibility of working together in the future.
If you haven't already, be sure to check out Amadour's solo exhibition, 'Amadour: Nevada Proscenium' at the TMCC Main Gallery, on view through June 18. It explores Nevada's history, from the Comstock Lode and Virginia City's mining systems to the stories of Latinx, immigrant, and working-class communities who helped shape our state.
Best of luck with the exhibition, and may you continue to inspire many of our youth to create and love art! π

Check out Colors of Work as it opens today at McKinley Arts!
Sharing some behind-the-scenes as student-intern artists from the Transition Academy get guidance from our teaching artist, Anne Hunter, as they work on their respective Colors of Work art piece that shows their perspective on livelihood.
The Colors of Work artists are all young adults with intellectual and cognitive disabilities who are actively preparing their next steps through vocational training, career exploration, and workplace readiness.
At Transition Academy (operating through Washoe County School District), interns participate in supported, hands-on learning experiences across a variety of industries, visiting local businesses and job sites as they build practical skills and confidence.
Colors of Work will run from June 1 to July 9, Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm at the McKinley Arts Center.

Welcome June with 'Colors of Work' as it opens on Monday, June 1st.
Let's all celebrate the student-intern artists from the Transition Academy , as they hold their Colors of Work exhibition, featuring artworks that show their unique perspective on livelihood: what motivates them, what challenges them, and what brings them pride.
The artists displayed in this exhibition are all young adults with intellectual and cognitive disabilities who are actively preparing their next steps through vocational training, career exploration, and workplace readiness.
At Transition Academy, which operates through the Washoe County School District, interns participate in supported, hands-on learning experiences across a variety of industries, visiting local businesses and job sites as they build practical skills and confidence.
Each day, the interns develop independence and self-advocacy through their training and engagement with their peers.
Under the guidance of our teaching artist, Anne Hunter, these interns have created a vibrant collection of mixed media works.
Combining painting, photography, and other materials, their pieces reflect their personal experiences of work - what it feels like to learn, to contribute, and build a meaningful future.
Colors of Work is both a celebration of creativity and a powerful expression of identity, purpose, and independence.
We look forward to seeing you all as you join in celebrating the Colors of Work by the student-intern artists from the Transition Academy.
Colors of Work will run from June 1 to July 9, Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm at the McKinley Arts Center.

Print Block art at Gardnerville! π
Look at these artsy prints made by our wonderful artists at Expand-Able Horizons in Gardnerville! And know what's even cooler? They upcycled styrofoam to make the print blocks. Awesome right?
Sweetest thanks to Suzanne Towse for sharing this photo. β€οΈ
