๐พโจ Exciting Day at Preschool! โจ๐พ
Today, our curious preschoolers explored the fascinating world of vets and doctors! We were thrilled to have Dr. Sophie visit us and share her incredible experiences as a veterinarian.
The kindergarten class has been diving into the topic of hibernating animals, and what better way to connect the dots than with a real-life vet? ๐ป๐
Dr. Sophie brought along her adorable dog, Zion, who was the star of the day! The kids got hands-on experience checking his heartbeat, taking his temperature, and even practicing bandaging his legs. ๐ถโค๏ธ
Learning about caring for animals has never been so much fun! Thank you, Dr. Sophie and Zion, for making our day unforgettable!
โLately, Iโve been noticing how interested the children are in one anotherโmore conversation, more watching, more wanting to play together.
So I set up a simple provocation with baby dolls, dishes, and food to support that growing social play. What followed was such thoughtful interaction: feeding the babies, setting up a picnic, talking to one another, and gently caring for the dolls.
Play like this supports empathy, communication, and connection. With just a few intentional materials, the children were able to explore relationships in a way that felt meaningful and natural to them.โ

๐ Building Together: A Tower of Teamwork! ๐
Today in our preschool, our little architects gathered to create an amazing tower using Magna Tiles, bells, and tea lights! This hands-on activity wasn't just about stacking blocks; it was a wonderful opportunity for them to learn and grow together.
๐น Teamwork & Collaboration: As they worked side by side, they discovered the importance of listening to each other's ideas, sharing materials, and helping one another. Every child had a role, fostering a sense of community.
๐น Problem-Solving Skills: When their tower wobbled or a piece wouldnโt fit, they quickly learned to communicate and brainstorm solutions. This encouraged critical thinking and resilience.
๐น Creativity & Imagination: The combination of colors and shapes inspired their creativity. The tea lights added a magical touch, sparking imaginative play as they envisioned their tower reaching the stars!
๐น Fine Motor Skills: Manipulating the tiles and arranging them helped strengthen their fine motor skills, preparing them for future tasks like writing and drawing.
Through play, our preschoolers are not just building towers; they're building essential life skills! ๐๏ธโจ

๐โจ Today in our 2-year-old classroom at Pinion Early Education Center, we embraced the beauty of simplicity through a magical provocation!
In line with the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we believe that the environment is the third teacher. Itโs amazing how the simplest provocations can inspire deep engagement and learning. Watching the children interact with these materials reminded us that true magic lies in their ability to create and discover.
Letโs celebrate the joy of learning through play! ๐

๐๐ Math in Action: Pouring Muddy Water! ๐๐
Ever thought about the math behind something as simple as pouring water? When transferring muddy water from one container to another, weโre not just getting our hands dirty; weโre diving into some cool math concepts!
1. Volume Calculations: ๐
- Understanding the volume of both containers is key! How much water can each hold? We use formulas to find the volume of different shapes (like cylinders or rectangular prisms) to determine the capacity.
2. Proportions: โ๏ธ
- If the containers are different sizes, we have to think about proportions. How much of the water fills each container? This helps in understanding ratios and scaling.
3. Rate of Flow: โฑ๏ธ
- How quickly can we pour? This involves concepts of speed and time, which can lead to discussions about fluid dynamics!
4. Measurement: ๐
- We might need to measure the amount of muddy water weโre transferring. Using units like liters or gallons is crucial for accuracy.
5. Predicting Outcomes: ๐ฎ
- What happens if we pour too quickly? What if one container overflows? Predicting outcomes involves reasoning and understanding cause and effect.
So next time youโre pouring muddy water, remember: itโs not just a messy task; itโs a math adventure! ๐งฎโจ
