Power is the ability to influence the actions and choices of others and power impacts consent.

Consent is not possible when a person feels they don’t have a choice.

Imbalances of power happen when there is a difference in age, sexual experience, or when one person is an authority figure. The level of ability (physical or intellectual disabilities), positions in society/authority (through job, education, wealth), privilege (unearned advantages a person may have) also influence consent.
