Nevada Reading week at Mathews Elementary was full of amazing guests visiting our kids and inspiring them. We had everything from Beautiful Rodeo Queen, to Fuzzy Paws, Cute Birds, and Public servants! Thank you to Red from Red Robin, Peanut the pup, Officer Vierra from WCSD Police department, Devon T. Reese, Hug High Soccer Team, and many others!

Mathews needs a 5 day a week intervention teacher! This role will be filled by a substitute license holder. This is a great opportunity for a recent Elementary Ed graduate, or a retired teacher. The role will be working with small groups of students (K-5th grades) on reading, using set curricular resources (SIPPs) and some math groups as well.

Science with Santa was a hit! Sierra Nevada Journeys, Parent University and Mathews Elementary, and honor students from Hug High, treated the students and their families to a fun filled evening of science experiments, STEM activities, music, treats and of course, Santa and his elves!

Today our students earned a teacher inflatable costume parade by following the school-wide expectations! We had so much fun parading down the hallways! Hope everyone has a fun and relaxing Thanksgiving break. ❤️
Our STEAM Birdhouse project done with CORE construction and Van Woert Bigotti Architecture firm turned out absolutely wonderful! Each group designed their houses and collaborated together to build and decorate their houses. The creativity astounds me! Great job kids!
