Day 5 in the books. The fan favorite for the Outdoor Skills group this week was definitely canoeing! 🛶☀️ The lighter wind today made for smooth sailing out on the lake, and students even spotted a few turtles while paddling around. We also went on a scavenger hunt, found some cool deer tracks, and had a blast throwing atlatls. Best of all — we had TWO students hit the target today! 🎯🌲🐢

School of the Wild Family Night is TONIGHT! 🌲☀️🔥

Join us at 6:30 PM at Union Grove Lake Youth Shelter as we wrap up an amazing week of camp adventures! Hot dogs, chips, water, and s’mores are ready to go… so come hungry! 🌭🍫

Your students have some AWESOME projects and creations to show off from the week — and yes, families are encouraged to take them home (so Mrs. Plett doesn’t have to haul quite so many projects back to school next week 😉).

Bring the whole family along with some lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a relaxing evening at the lake celebrating a fantastic week of School of the Wild! We can’t wait to see everyone tonight! 🐦🎣🚣🌿

What an incredible week at School of the Wild camp! 🌲☀️ These group pictures capture so many memories, adventures, and smiles from an amazing few days of outdoor learning. From fishing and canoeing to bird watching, hiking, survival skills, and exploring nature, students learned so much while making unforgettable memories together.

A huge thank you to all of our parent volunteers, helpers, and staff who helped make this week possible. We are so proud of these campers and all they accomplished! 🐟🦅🚣🐾

A special shout out and HUGE thank you to all of the amazing staff and helpers who joined us this week at camp! 🌲☀️ We could not have done it without your help, flexibility, encouragement, and willingness to jump into every adventure alongside the students.

The Outdoor Survival group once again survived the week and learned many new outdoor skills along the way! 🌲🎣 Students rounded out the week by catching even more fish — and best of all, nobody was skunked on the fish this week! From survival strategies to teamwork and persistence, it was a great week full of learning, adventure, and fun outdoors. ☀️🐟

Final day of the Birds group! 🐦☀️ We had a great time this week spotting lots of birds, exploring nature, and learning together outdoors. Students especially enjoyed using our new binoculars to get an even closer look at the birds around the lake!

A huge thank you to the Iowa Audubon Society and the Prairie Rapids Audubon Society for their generous grants that helped make these experiences possible. The excitement and joy from students using the binoculars this week was incredible to see! 🦅🌲
