What does leading the pack mean to you?
To me, leading the pack means being someone others can count on and being willing to take the first step, even when the path isn't always clear. In the classroom, that means creating an environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, try something new, and discover what they are capable of. I also believe that leading the pack means knowing when to step back and let someone else shine. Some of my favorite moments as a teacher are when I see a student gain confidence, help a classmate, or accomplish something they once thought they couldn't do. Those moments remind me that leadership isn't about standing in front of everyone; sometimes it's about walking beside them and helping them find their own way.
Who is someone who taught you to be a positive leader? Tell us a little about their story.
Someone who has taught me a great deal about positive leadership is my husband, Levi. He has shown me that true leadership isn't about taking the easiest path or simply telling others what to do—it’s about being willing to do the hard things yourself and leading by example. Levi is the kind of person who is always willing to roll up his sleeves and get his hands dirty. Whether he is working toward a professional goal, challenging himself physically, or investing in his spiritual growth, he approaches everything with determination and a strong work ethic. More importantly, he encourages the people around him to become better versions of themselves. He has a way of motivating others without making them feel pressured, and I have watched him inspire people to grow physically, spiritually, and professionally.What I admire most about Levi's leadership is his humility. Even though he has accomplished a great deal and has positively influenced so many people, he never feels the need to be the center of attention or take credit. He simply keeps showing up, doing the work, helping others, and setting an example. He has taught me that positive leadership isn't about being the loudest voice in the room. It's about being the person who is willing to go first, do the hard work, encourage others along the way, and remain humble enough to know that there is always room to grow. I feel very fortunate to have such a wonderful example of leadership right beside me every day.
