🎉 Congratulations on Your Retirement, Terence Sheehy! 🎉

Today, we’re proud to recognize and celebrate one of our own, Terence Sheehy, on his retirement from Dare County EMS after nearly three decades of service to EMS and public safety.

Terence has built a career defined by service, leadership, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to the people around him. Through countless calls, storms, long nights, difficult decisions, and years of responsibility, he has remained focused on the mission and on serving his community well.

We are especially fortunate that retirement from Dare County doesn’t mean retirement from EMS. Terence is an important part of the EMS Wizard instructor team, where he continues to share the knowledge, experience, and leadership lessons earned over a remarkable career with the next generation of EMS professionals and leaders.

Terence ended his own reflection with words that perfectly describe this moment:

“Goodbye is for when we’re out of road. We’re not there yet. So for now, I’ll just say… I’ll see you down the road.”

From all of us at EMS Wizard, congratulations, Terence. Thank you for your service to Dare County, to the EMS profession, and to the countless people you have influenced along the way.

📣 CC ELITE – Critical Care ELITE Course Announcement

Cape Fear Community College EMS is excited to welcome students to the Critical Care ELITE – FP-C/CCP-C Preparatory Course for Summer 2026. This hybrid critical care transport program is designed for experienced paramedics and healthcare
professionals seeking advanced knowledge and preparation for the FP-C and CCP-C certification exams.

This intensive 280-hour course combines 64 hours of in-person instruction with 216 hours of online learning and focuses on providing ICU-level care during transport of critically ill and injured patients ranging from neonates to adults. Students will gain advanced education in critical care physiology, pharmacology, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, blood product administration, cardiac assist devices, advanced airway management, and invasive procedures.

📅 In-Person Class Dates:
8/14, 8/15, 9/11, 9/12, 10/9, 10/10, 11/6, 11/7
⏰ Class Times: 0800–1700

The course is led by Toby V. Carter, BA, FP-C, NR-P, CMTE and utilizes the EMS Wizard/Meducate learning platform. Online coursework is required prior to attending in-person sessions.

Students completing the course will be prepared to provide high-level critical care transport beyond the traditional paramedic scope of practice while building the knowledge base necessary for successful completion of the CCP-C or FP-C certification examinations.

This course consists of section tests, assignments/quizzes, skills laboratory evaluations, and a comprehensive final examination scheduled for November 7, 2026. Attendance requirements are strict, with students expected to complete all required contact hours.
