Our mother, Sofia, known to us as Sofka, has passed away at the age of 91. Born in Bulgaria, she survived the war as a refugee. With little schooling and much hardship, she built a life grounded in kindness, resilience, and quiet strength.

She raised three children and, through the way she lived and loved, shaped a generation. She helped without being asked, gave without counting, and asked for nothing in return. There was a softness to her, an amazing wisdom, and a deep sense of right and wrong that she never preached. She lived it. By exampl, she passed on her values.

Her cooking was her way of gathering people together. Around her table, family bonds were formed and strengthened, and her recipes continue to be passed on, carrying her care and spirit with them.

In the very same hour that she suddenly left us, a new great grandchild was born. One life closing, another beginning. As if something gentle was handed forward, reminding us that what she gave continues. The photo shown was taken just a few months ago and reflects her as we knew her.

She leaves behind a large and loving family and a legacy of goodness that will endure. We love you, Mom. You will always be the heart of our family.

This mug came to us with a missing handle and a chipped base, having been used for years by someone while serving. Preserving it and applying the gold Kintsugi process held great significance for the owner, as it carried a personal meaning.

The restoration involved taking an impression of a similar handle, casting a duplicate in resin, and securely mounting it with metal pegs to ensure mechanical integrity. Finally, the 23.5K gold Kintsugi process was applied, honoring the mug’s history.
