Coming home to inspire the next generation!

For Charlotte Schroeder, joining the Menlo-Atherton High School community is the realization of a longtime dream. A proud M-A alumna, Ms. Schroeder was inspired to become a science teacher by her own marine biology teacher, Mrs. Shepard — who still teaches at M-A today.

Now, after four years teaching at another Bay Area high school, Ms. Schroeder has returned to her alma mater to teach biology and marine biology. She is creating a welcoming classroom where students feel safe, seen and ready to explore.

“Ever since I was their age, I knew that I wanted to teach,” Ms. Schroeder shared. “I want them to know the dreams they have in high school can become reality!”

Building connections for a great school year! 💚

Last week, Woodside and Carlmont high schools welcomed families for Back-to-School Night. These snapshots from Woodside capture a little of that school community spirit!

Next up: Sequoia and Menlo-Atherton high schools host their Back-to-School Nights this Thursday. We look forward to more opportunities for families to meet educators and learn about the year ahead.

Learning goes beyond the classroom at SUHSD.

Students from our continuation high school, Redwood High School, recently launched a boat they have spent the school year building as part of the school’s incredible maritime trades program. This week, students celebrated that milestone at the Port of Redwood City while also learning more about sailing, teamwork and life on the water alongside industry experts.

Next up: learning how to row.

Hands-on experiences like these help students build confidence, develop technical and collaborative skills, and connect learning to real-world opportunities and career pathways.
